Cycle Right. 101 Rickertt Rd, Ransome, QLD 4154. Phone:(07) 3245 1101
They said the test would take 8hours but we got it done in 6!
So while this is still fresh in my mind im going to quickly jot down what was involved in today!
7 off us all up including 2 trainers Glen and Todd came along... There's also Peta, she runs the place and sits up at the house in the office the whole time.
It started off with a chat outside, that consists off a large shed and flat strip off road about 150meters long surrounded buy land... grass, trees etc.
anyway...
than we had a quick question and answer page at the house, 5 off us worked together and discussed the answers so it made it easier.
We went outside again and one off the trainers Todd told us how to check our bikes,
- Oil
- Fluids
- Tyre air
- Fuel
- Lights, horn etc
bbbbboooooorrrrrriiiiiiiinnnnnngggggggggggg...............
Than we did a quick practical test which involves,
- Slow rides
- Slow stops
- Quick stops
- Salums
- Sudden steers
and
- One Figure 8
Than went back up to the house had a quick chat and watched some old motorbike videos.
We went out on the road taking turns off leading thro Manly and Wynnum and than near the Wynnum Hotel we did some-
- Hill starts,
and
- U turns in one off the backstreets over and over again
Made our way back through Wynnum and back to base where we did some Theory ( Yuck!!! ) But there is no way off failing offcourse.
2 Lessons which I required Cost me $105 buks each, (2 lessons at the minimum this takes) and each lesson goes for 2hrs so thats $210 than when the trainers think your ready they book u a Test date which costs a wooping $295 buks! so thats $500buks all up
I took my own bike but they have bikes there for u to use and also riding gear, gloves, jacket, helmet etc
When it was all complete I went for a spin to the QT in Wynnum with my certified papers with the one chick that we did the test with to renew my licence with the RE print and that cost us nothing to do...
And thats about it!
I hope this info helps out any new commers onto the scene anyone wanna know anything else just post and ill reply :-)

Excuse my ignorance (different state) but was this to get your learner's, or to progress off your learners? Either way, I thought our testing was expensive but it seems we're getting a decent deal ($300 for 8 hours practical/theory).
What were your thoughts on the experience? Hard/easy? Do you think what they were teaching is relevant?
Good work on passing, get out there and enjoy it. Keep it rubber side down though.

Quick question.
This is different to the Q-Ride sessions/courses right?
Or is it the same? If its the same, did you have to do the test with Queensland Transport? Or with Cycle Right?

-this test is for your P's which is after your L's
-$300... $295. same thing
-Easy! even the girl completed it and thats saying something! :-p
-Yes i do think what they taught is relevant, it just shows you the correct way to do things from putting your gloves on to how to ride properly on the road.

-This is the Q-ride sessions
-You dont have to do a test with QT u just do the test with Cycle Right and they give u a certificate to show QT that u have completed whats nessersary to obtain your provisional licence which is the test offcourse...

QT testing is more painful to do than Q-RIDE

If you have your own bike and CAN ride should be around $250-$270 depending on where you go. or about $310 approx if you use their bike

AEGIS is how its spelt I think. I did mine in kingaroy and their branch their is really good so I assume the ones in Brisbane/GC would also be good.

As posted earlier about 5 hours including a lunch break, waiting for other trainees to arrive and them writing everyones paperwork up at the end (I was last). The Kingaroy branch usually does theory on a week night and practical on a weekend but in this case they had people coming from out of town so they did it all on a Saturday. Brisbane places usually charge extra for weekends but don't quote me on that.

You said $295 was required to book the test.
Is this everywhere?

I've been doing the single sessions at whatever the Q-Ride place is above Hinterland Motorcycle in Nerang. I've kinda got the sh!ts with them at the moment and haven't been back in a while. I've done at least, AT LEAST five sessions @ $75ea = $375 and still haven't passed yet. I think they've been dragging it out considering every session they get me doing the same thing, even though I'm alread signed off on what they get me to do. I'm not sure how many figure 8s I need to do for them to be content! Obsticle avoidance is the last thing on my list to complete and I can't get signed off on it if they don't get me doing it. And considering one lesson I avoided a pretty major obsticle, me and a falcon got cut off on a round-about by someone who was turning left into the *right lane (*the second lane on the left turn, two lane round-about if that makes sense, hard to explain) which sent cars trying to dodge it everywhere. Nobody seemed to notice I was busy dodging around their blind dodging. Anyway, came out of that completely fine. At the end of that the guy was like "that was pretty crazy"... I'm pretty sure that means I can and do ride a bike (have been for about 5yrs. Long story as to why I still don't have my lisense).
Then I'm getting in trouble, one lesson the guy afterwars said something along the lines of I'm too conservative and doesn't want to see me ride how I think he wants to see me ride, but wants to see me ride how I would if I was riding on my own. Then got up me the next lesson because I was difficult to follow me because I was banging merge lanes which was one of the specific things he wanted to see me do! Can't win!

That sucks mate. Yeah I got stuffed around a bit by a big training group here. Arrogant dicks, just wanted more of my cash till i told them i was going elsewhere.
Why not look in the yellow pages for a small/individual trainer? I had better luck that way. If your confident, just go in, do the test and get out. Wham, bam, thankyou ma'am.
