Full Version: Canon 7d Now Avail

Got an email this morning saying the camera is now in stock. To be honest, I would of thought it would of cost the earth. The body only is just 2399 and I think that is fairly reasonable considering what you get in return. 18 Megapixel (thats like 5,184 x 3,456), up to ISO 12800 and apparently it can shoot in HD movie mode? I mena you don't buy a shoot camera for video tho but thats sort of handy.

So lets discuss...

I had a play with one at harvey norman on the weekend and they are a really nice bit of gear

I just wish they were FF! If it was full frame I would have put it on my credit card then and there haha

I am torn between wanting the latest and greatest but not FF, not being able to afford the 5DII and buying a second had 5D to play with till I can afford the 5DII

But at the end of the day I think money is best spent on glass until you have a nice range and or the current body gives up

Big call Dave. I can't talk on the 7D, but to me the 5D MkI is not that far behind the MkII.

Here is one from each, too close to call for mine.

yeah but no warrenty as it all grey market when i spend 2k i want to have some sort of come back i have had a few cameras have to go back to canon for little things like alignment or recalls or shutter bounce etc. stuff doing that with no warrenty

Yeah in reference to camera bodies, screw 'parallel imports' aka grey imports. Lenses sure, and I'm talking L lenses because you get international warranty but bodies - It's worth the money to save the risk. Especially when you're paying a thousand bucks PLUS, speaking 5Dmk2, $3000+. Imagin that shit getting lost in the post and hearing your neighbor who just happens to be a postie scored a 5Dmk2 that day.

Personally I'd love a 5Dmk2, hell I'd love a 5D but am umming and arring at selling the 40D for one.. Not sure if it's the best move as I do use FPS sometimes especially when trying to grab a spont. portrait of my nephew and nieces etc.. 3" LCD & better vs 2.5, dust shake (not really worth THAT much though) loosing the grip ec..
