Oct 28 2009, 12:30 AM
SR + KE = 12 second quarters, and will spin 3rd like crazy. will also snap the little bog-warmer and axles the first time you take it for a drive
please don't buy a bodykit of any description
and suspension can be purchased from plenty of places, ae86drivingclub forums is a good start. almost everything AE86 related (suspension, engine, etc etc) can be used with varying degrees of modification

ok so wat sort of axle, diff set up should i run becuz i like the idea of 3rd gear wheel spin considering it would purely be track use only, and by bodykit i ment jdm style wide body sorta shit cuz ive see some crazy ke's and i like the idea of the flared guards.
also the ke has a locked diff

114x4 and yes ae86 suspension will fit, you can even bolt an S13 crossmember in for more track and use the S13 suspension...

Nov 1 2009, 08:58 PM
ok, yer well ive got my mate saying 700 for the car with an sr20 blacktop fitted minus box and recaro seat or 300 with ca18det with box and seat, thats good then ill buy decent ae86 jdm look wheels, cheers for that and by crossmember you mean?

Nov 1 2009, 09:06 PM
apparently only the rear coilovers will fit and the front ones will only fit 82 or newer

haha nope lol im thinking bout it but few other things gotta think bout to lol like my r32s 100,000km service and tune up, new bed so just gotta figure wats the best way to spend the money haha
Skid your 32, Spend the 2k on that will be gravy, 2nd hand coilovers $500, sway bars $100-200, Shim/lock the diff $50, Adjustable this and that. ?$300-500. Seat etc etc, youll be laughing.

Nov 3 2009, 08:06 PM
the ca18 gearbox can bolt up to an sr if you find a sr bellhousing
don't go s13 front suspension set up its aids
hilux diff will need mounts and stuff welded not a big deal but you maybe able to find one prepped
au springs sierra shocks in the back are ok for a budget gives a nice ride height but you'll either need adjustable 4link or modded the stock stuff
that only leaves the front xt130 struts with hilux calipers and a weld on adjustable sleeve worked the treat but are hard to find nowadays
you can get by with supra , t18, or jdm ae86 front or just put au springs on the front aswell with the stock ke70 stuff
pending on your skills anywhere from $500 to $2k to get to where your skyline is
my 2 cents

hey guys yet again another question, anyone know of anywhere in brissy, i could get a custom tail shaft made up and how much would it cost?
trdcamrypride
Nov 8 2009, 03:47 AM
dont go hilux diff go r31 diff mate easier then u just need to shorten and have 4 link mounts made up stud pattern is the same and remember when doing this take into consideration the with and offset of the wheels you will be running so when u shorten your diff u get the most pimp fitment.
and please for the love of good taste stay away from a kit .
trdcamrypride
Nov 8 2009, 03:49 AM
and im sure somewhere like a diff and gearbox shop would be able to help you with your tailshaft dramers aswell.
Fast_32
Nov 8 2009, 01:28 PM
ok so how much do u think i should leave for custom tailshalf? also by kit i ment shit like the flaired guars that look nicely jdm on the old rollas didnt mean shit like wat vertex and things for cars like skylines lol, so an r31 diff wuld be better and wuld be able to use existing wheels? i swear i red sumwhere they are 4x100 which is throwing me off
trdcamrypride
Nov 8 2009, 05:32 PM
nah r31 and ke70 are both 4x114.3 mate and i couldnt give u a price but i would say any more than a couple of hundred u are prob getting ripped off caal a few diff places.
Fast_32
Nov 8 2009, 06:48 PM
ok kool and say wat 500?

if you want to run ae86 front struts or coilovers ( which 8 times out of ten will be ae86 struts with the spring mounts cut off and coil overt sleeves welded on) you just need to swap your ke70 steering arms for ae86 ones. Standard ae86 are cheap as chips and very easy to get. You should also be able to pick up ae86 power steering arms which will give you more lock, but they will be like $200.
Another diff you could run is a t series from a series two t18. but if your going a nissan motor you will need a custom tail shaft anyway so i would go a F series diff, which can be had in the 4x114.3 stud pattern, from certain tarago vans. you will need to get the mounts moved to suit the ke70.
the sites you need to be asking these questions on are www.ae86drivingclub.com.au and www.rollaclub.com BUT, AND THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They both have tech article sections and search functions which you HAVE to have a look at first, cos a lot of people get on there asking the same newb questions again and again and the member get pretty fiesty about it.
But if you have a read through those sites you will pretty much be able to work out a decent set up.
Also if you want to take the easy way out and buy the parts without the fuss of hunting them down, you should visit www.ajps.com.au, he is basically the main man when it comes to gear for ae86s and ke70s!

Nov 9 2009, 12:47 PM
mate if u buy it with the sr buy the ca18det and i will buy it off you.. also ae86 power steering arms are good, but apparently one bloke said he ran them and found the steering to become harder as he got his speed up more.. also you can use xt130 corona struts, alternatively ajps has coilover kits for standard ksev struts, early KE55/KE30 etc lca's are 10mm longer giving about -1-2 degree camber, or go for more with sigma lca's .if u want to get a nice setup for now get some king springs superlows, and some kyb excel g short stroke shocks.. not as much as coilovers and would be decent beginner setup, also some good beefy swaybars to stop that annoying body roll..
hope to see you rollin out in a ksev and representin

Nov 9 2009, 02:03 PM
only for track lol got my 32 for that, cheers, im in the process of just working out how much im up for thats all
trdcamrypride
Nov 9 2009, 05:54 PM
yeah 500 would be maximum i would presume for tailshaft and yeah call diff places for a price on ya tail shatf and for shortening your diff.
Fast_32
Nov 9 2009, 05:59 PM
mmm ill ask my mate 2moz how he is gonna hook it up cuz chances r ill buy it with the ca for the time been til i save for the sr box, do u think a sr and a ca wuld run the same shaft? and cheers for the help
doripig_01
Nov 9 2009, 06:29 PM
they will only run the same shaft if u run the same box, sr box and ca im pretty sure have different output shafts, same with the rb stuff.. its also a matter of how u mount the sr if u plan on puttin that in later, cause the tailshaft could be too long or too short when u swap engines..
Fast_32
Nov 9 2009, 07:04 PM
true, Hmmm gives me another thing to ponder lol *adds to list*
doripig_01
Nov 9 2009, 07:39 PM
there are many things to ponder when building a car.. best way round it is to just do it and work out the problems when they come up.. best way i can think of to get around the shaft problem is swap uni's on the front part of your tailshaft to the matching spline for the gearbox when and if you decide to go over to the SR, do keep in mind when you have the CA running, in stock form its about 130kw at the fly, the old 4k makes a whopping 48kw at the fly.. so ur jumping almost 3 times the power.. add some injectors, bigger turbo, exhaust, fmic, maybe aftermarket ecu and more boost and ud easily get 4 or 5 times over what the car was originally sent out of factory with.. that = a lot of fun.. so there is much to fun to be had even with a ca..
Fast_32
Nov 9 2009, 07:53 PM
yer i get wat you mean, i just dont want to be taking it out for its 1st run and doing a shitload of damage ie, the diff blows or it sits there for a month or two while i try to source parts or anything, ill talk to my mate, ill probz be going the ca to start with because its a cheap turbo engine and they go fine stock, so if i can get my mate to help get it runnin for not much more then the 300 ill pay for it with the ca18 in then should be good
doripig_01
Nov 9 2009, 08:19 PM
one guy on rollaclub has a ca ksev, standard diff just welded and he only started twisting axles at about 16psi, when u start to get more serious try and find either a T18 and bolt that diff in, or get a R31 diff and get it modded to fit, or a hiace/hilux diff, again the same with them as they need to be modded to fit, although more work is involved with those as you need to change the pcd as most of em are either 5/6 stud... in the end its your choice as to what you buy and get done.. everyone prefers this and that, but i can say research it..
heres one on rollaclub.com to get you in the right direction:

yer? shit 16psi is not exactly wat id be planning out of a stock ca haha, well ill talk to my mate, just got pricing on a few bits for my 32 lol so probs put a deposit on it thru my mate and go from there, cheers for the help, would a turbo diff from an ae86 fit in? like probz stupid idea and hard as shit to find but could it be possible or some sort of turbo diff outta a toyota rwd?
delazy
Nov 9 2009, 08:48 PM
all i will say is BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
thanks for the laugh fellas....so many stupid posts its not funny....
one question tho....where do i get myself a turbo ae86 diff from??? considering EVERY ONE OF THEM was n/a
doripig_01
Nov 9 2009, 08:48 PM
ae86 driveline/suspension parts are almost all interchangeable with most ke70/ae71s so yes it can be done

then put a kazz lsd in it and ur laughing

Nov 9 2009, 10:25 PM
oh true, then i take back the previous comment, lol wat about a mr2 diff? or were they like the r32 gtrs ie had the diff as part of the motor, due to the mr2 engine being mounted at the rear?
doripig_01
Nov 9 2009, 10:29 PM
Mr2's i think run an irs rear, so they would have cv's etc like a sil/32/180 would so its a no goer for the mr2 in your case dude..
