i own a 1989 mx83 cressida and the central locking has just started playing up today

when i hit the Lock button, the front two locks do nothing, and the back two lock then unlock..

and when i close my doors, the back two lock then unlock and again front two do nothing

what could my problem be?

comon people someone must have some idea

Have you checked that any of the bits of the central locking aren't broken?

Take your door card off and have a look to see if anything is infact broken.

yeah i have... all the door cards are off and when i press the lock button the rear doors lock - pause - unlock

so they are working but something is triggering them too unlock

and the front doors doo sweet fuck all

given the age of that car I dare say the front door harnesses are broke at the door jamb. common thing with cars of that era. what else on those doors doesnt work?

that is it, when i lock it with the key from the outside only that door locks, none of the others

and when i Close my drivers door, for some reason the back two doors lock - pause - unlock.. even tho i didnt press the lock button or anything

i found in my spare cressy parts a little red box saying 'door control' ... would this be for the central locking
perhaps i should swap it over, but its pretty much hidden behind the dash

what do yous think?

I would isolate the problem first. swapping that unit out (which rarely fails.) wont be the cause.

not in the cressy atm as its unregistered...but if i have too when its registered ill let you know cheers
