Hi i just got a sub, (http://www.ryda.com.au/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=TCVT124)
Type Single
Impedance (OHMS) 2 or 4
Woofer CVT12
Max Rec Amplifier Power (WATTS PEAK/RMS)* 800/400
What amp do i need? Thanks Phil

any amp with an RMS power rating of between 200 and 400 watts will run this sub very well. something like this would be perfect. you would need to specify that you want the 2ohm version of the sub as this would yield the full 300 watts from the amp. keep in mind you would also need another amp for your full range speakers as your headunit will not have near enough power to deal with the bass from the sub.

cheers.

Thanks for that. Already got infinity speakers and sony amp was waiting on the sub.
And when wiring in a 2nd amp do u get from battery or from other amp spliced?

You can get it directly off the battery but I would recommend using a distro block (power distribution block)

With this block, you get the power directly from the battery and connect it to the distro block and then you can use the block as the centre to get your power from.

Having this block will save you running another power wire.

Have a look through these:

I've got this one in my car:

if you would buy one of them you should look at one of these, imo, a better option that a sony !

the jaycar option is far better than the sony option, if the amplifier is just to run a sub buy a monoblock, if you buy a 2 channel and bridge the channels to run the sub, i doubt you will be happy with the output from it.

If you don't have the money for a monoblock amplifier then..................................................don't spend your money on crap save so more and do the right thing spend it wisely
