hey
when my s13 gets low on fuel the needle goes 1/4 below the E line which looks crazy
and my fuel light doesnt come up so i quickly get some fuel anyway thinking it will run out
is there anyway to test if fuel light works without trying to run out of fuel?

Get a small jerry can and carry it in the car.
In a Silvia the fuel light and the fuel gauge are hooked up to different spots on the float, usually the gauge isnt accurate (or doesnt work at all) and the light is 100% accurate.
I always just filled up when the light came on, it was fine.

use a test light, connect one side to a ground point and probe the wiring plug at/near
the fuel pump, it should light the test light up dull and bring on the w/light at the
dash
