As per my topic I have to change the R31 over to tassie registration this week and while the stock mags and tyres are ok I may want to borrow some for the inspection.

If anyone could give me a hand that would be awesome.

Also does anyone have a checklist of things that I should go over before the inspection? Just want to really make sure its top notch really cant afford it to fail.

Plus anyone know a total cost? Inspection + registration?

inspection is around the $50 mark, depending where you go.
new rego and new plates, transfer of ownership etc, allow $600 i would say, for 12 months reg

make sure, no oil leaks.. that is the 1st thing they look for
all lights working, horn working, brakes got plenty of "meat" left, windscreen pissers need to work, seat belts must be all good

there will be more to add to that list too

ive got r31 stodgies. 2 have decent retreats, other 2 nearly bald

check offset if using mags for test we had to fail a cv8 monaro for to much track the other day.
check steering rack boots, brake pads, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, all lights and lenses, windows wind up and down( in a coupe only 1 HAS to work) seat bealts for freying, universal joints, pedal rubbers, shocky rubbers, oil leaks, rust,

thats about all i can think of

There is a lil surface rust on the roof bugger all but its there. It says on the transport site "excessive rust" whatever that means.

I may just paint the roof, bonnet and boot in matte black to make sure.

You wont have any problem with surface rust, there only worried about Major/Structual rust, e.g. Rust in floor/chassis

And inspection will cost you $70 and that includes a reinspection within one month if it fails first time round.

Excellent. I will probably still paint the bonnet and roof - following the body lines of course.

Mechanically I have nothing to worry about (knock on wood), no leaks, loses no oil, suspension is all nolathane or new and its getting a wheel alignment tomorrow.

I'm not worried just want to be certain it will pass.

also make sure all your windows wind up and down properly and door handles work, something that they pick on sometimes

Thanks everyone but my old man had a set of brand new yokohamas in the shed so they have been put on and it was given a wheel alignment.

Project Sleeper R31 has begun!

seats no tears, seatbelts cant be frayed (seat covers and a lighter up the belts will fix this) pretty much EVERYTHING the car came with factory has to work and be in safe condition
