hey guys,

i was just wondering what some good things are about ifs?

i have heard alot of bad things but surely there is some pro's about it
J-train
They are cheaper because no one wants them = Pro
I just bought a solid front conversion for mine, they are good for beginners I guess.
Brett
they're great on the road. thats about it
if you don't take your 4x4 off road then IFS is what you want

or if you're only going on the beach etc
but they don't belong on serious business 4x4 tracks

J-train, where'd you get your kit?
slyvy
locktup is where you'll find the best SAS kit all you'll need is the front diff housing from a solid front hilux.

IFS is a smoother ride on the road/beach.

they make you take better lines offroad...but a lot of times you get yourself into more trouble..

im struggling for any other pros lol

i own an 88 IFS lux, was going to sas but not so keen due to funds anymore. i have the solid front housing and leafs just cant afford the kit and to get it installed properly. im lookin at 4k to get it converted fully engineered...
CHUCKYS
pro: comfy ride, adjustable to a degree with tortion bars
did alot of driving in my brothers solid axle lux lifted on 35's and have a IFS lux on 31s of my own now. In the 4wd tracks the IFS makes you take a different line to what you would in a SAS thats for sure, But learn your abilities and make good line choices and as long as your not going on to crazy flex angles you can get to the same spots as the SAS. great thing for an IFS IMO is a front locker though to compensate for lifting a front wheel often. other than that its really not that bad, can still put the in 4wd and go bush
Brett
they dont make a solid axel kit for mine yet (05+ IFS lux), I'd be looking at a custom engineering job
but fuck me running I'd love to do it

I'm keen, with the current model you need to go an 80 series diff to match the width up with your rear axle thumbsup.gif

torn whether to do the SAS or just trade it in on a solid front 100 series, the latter being so much easier
