Hey guys im looking at buying a pioneer dvd player from the US and i wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with decks from the US and if it will pick up Australian radio stations and also the dvd player is locked to region 1, but can i still play burnt dvds?

If the player is locked to region 1 it will only play region 1 discs. Not discs burnt from your region 4 dvd burner even if you burn them region free. There are many websites about how to 'hack' the dvd player with a series of menu commands to make them region free. Some only let you change the region a limited number of times, others can change as often as you need. As far as the radio goes, I'm not sure. I know that Asian places run lower frequencies and you can get adapters that add 10 mhz so even though the numbers displayed would be wrong (106.7) the frequencies (107.7) would be right. I'm pretty sure the US runs on the same frequency band as we do so it shouldn't be a problem. Put it this way. I have only ever seen frequency band adapters for Asian radios but then again i don't always look very hard.
