hi guys,
put coilovers in my forester this morning and i am running wrx rims with an offset of +55.
its scrubbing on the bottom on the coilover and i wanna get some spacers... wat i want to know is if there is going to be enough thread for the wheel nuts if i put 10mm spacers on it?!
cheers

Why can't you just look and see how much thread is left when the wheel is on, Minus the 10mm for a spacer

oh ok i had considered to run spacers on a set of wheels but i was quickly told by our workshop mechanic they were illegal and i purchased the correct rims with the right ammont of offset
in looking back i am happy with the extra money i forked out for the wheels
i personally havent used spacerz but i dont see much wrong with them other then being illegal

they are illegal, but pretty much these days anything you do to your car can be conceived as illegal if mr policeman wants to class it as such, and really as far as insurance goes, they can knock back a claim on anything if they feel that is makign the car unroadworthy, its really any excuse so they don't have to pay out!
I've only run bolt on spacers on my road cars didn't like using slip ons i was loosing thread depth, on my track car i'm using a 15 bolt on with the studs removed, longer wheel studs and using the 15's a like a slip on, and haven't got any issues with them at, make sure the bolts are torqued up correctly, if your still a little un easy, wack a small bit of stud lock on and go from there.

i had a similar problem on an old corolla i put 16's onto, rears wouldn't go past the shocks. . . add some spacers and all good. Aside from it rubbing like a bitch on the guards everytime you turned the car. Lol
Had no problem with the wheel nuts either.

Your hub has a lip in the center that the wheel is supposed to mate up to, this transmits the load from the wheel to the hub without loading the studs as much.
If you run a wheel spacer it reduces or totally eliminates this small lip therefore the studs take all the load from the wheel which can cause problems, also it will cause your car to weave under hard acceleration.
Get the bolt on types but make sure they have the right lip in the center to take the wheels you are using.
