Hi guys

im new to the 4x4 world.
im only 16, and still on my L's
i've just bought a 1991 toyota hilux surf. Got it for a bargain.
im looking at doinng a bit of 4x4ing here and there, and going over to the island for some camping (Moretan Fraser etc etc)
its pretty stock apart from a 2.5" exhaust and some 31's.

i want to give it some lift, suspension or body? or both?
but as cheap as possible.
advice?

cheers

do a search of this forum mate, so many times has this been asked, and if you can't find out what you want. try redlands 4wd an talk to peter, he will tell you everything you need to know, obvioulsy you can fit the parts yourself though to cut costs down, once you know what you want/need thumbsup.gif

hey buddy try the toyotasurf.asn.au website

will give you a heap of information.

also, if you have the time check out the information regarding them overheating, as the heads are expensive to replace

ok thanks mate

i heard of someone putting coils in the rear out of a stock 80 series.

would this be possible?

You can do a 2inch body lift fairly easily that only costs $166 and takes 3hours.
I just did a 2inch body lift onmy 4runner that I bought off Ebay for $150 plus $16 delivery.
You get 10x 2inch Teflon blocks, 10x high tensile bolts, washers and nylon nuts plus easy to follow instructions.
I have never done anything like it before and I had it completed i 3hours from start to finish.

Order the gear and send us a message, might be able to help out.

thanks mate,

do you have a link?

is it possible to just buy the blocks to save the dosh
laynlow
i'd suggest buying the kit not just the blocks as the high tensile bolts can be quite pricey and when you buy the kit you wont have to worry about working out what length bolts to get

remember before fitting a body lift you have to apply to modify your vehicle before hand an then once its done get in inspected at the pits.

thats if you want the lift legal, if not defect...

i had mine approved as i got pulled up for it.

the blocks cannot be out of a soft material or they wont pass, Nylon will pass tho.

That is the Ebay link for the kit.
Congrats for being able to do the job for $15. I Just wanted a complete kit sitting at my door waiting fo me so that I didn't have to go running around finding gear.
Did you extend your gear stick "moto_crazy'or just cut out the floor. I took my gear shifter out and Scott's Rods welded a 2inch extension in it for $30. Totally recommend this dude on Ebay, I paid direct deposit and I had the it in 3days from Tasmania.

Good luck with the lift.
I have purchased another kit as I have purchased another 4runner and it is so easy to do.
