What other modifications are done to the engine?
Or is it a stocko with extractors?
Stock I would go for a 2 1/4" with a good quality muffler.

i personally would go for a lukey or the like. Good quality and functional.
Entirely up to you if you go for a stainless or mild steel, press bent or mandrel.
You will get plenty of votes for Fat Pipes if you are after a top notch full custom system.

depending on headwork and other better breathing mods i'd step it up to a 2 1/2".
My old 208 powered LC extensive head/port work with a tough bottom end fed by triple 1 3/4" s.u's.
Exhaust system consisted of custom tuned length steampipe headers. 6-2 then into a single 3" merge collector then 3" mandrel bent stainless feeding back to
a single magnaflow stainless 3" muffler. Sounded great especially after the 40/80 cam was installed.

Brands of mufflers don't really mean anything. For a stock engine, 2.25" system with a big resonator in the middle and a big straight through muffler should sound good and be relatively quiet. If you want a bit louder, go for a physically larger muffler and don't use the resonator.

I've never heard anything regarding a "law" or limit on cam sizes. Would come down to emissions laws I would think.

ull find that most crashes are in little asian cars that cant take a hit. if learners and p platers used old cars made of metal there wouldnt be so many fatalities

No, actually there would probably be more accidents (no ABS, crappy turning circles, etc) and more deaths (no airbags, lack of crumple zones, etc)
