Full Version: Why Are There So Many Dodgy People In Tassie?

ignition
I dont go on this forum much because everytime i go on there is 4 to 5 cars stolen honestly im 16 and busted my balls working for 3 years to get my r33 gtst and now i dont want to park it anywhere cause its already been keyed by some tosser and when i park it somewhere there is always dodgy bogans checkin it out especially at night it's just crap. Where are the bad spots near launceston so i dont park any where near there ;p

But seriously i dont know how you guys can put up with these bogans stealing your cars.
Jord

watchout there are some serious posers in here . and they usually drive subaru's
MrMitsu
It happens in every state, it just so happens your probably only reading the tasmania section.

Not much you can do about it, just make sure as Jord said you have full insurance and a decent alarm. Cant really say if theres good spots or bad spots in Launceston as anywhere could be a potential target on a decent car, hell you dont even need a decent car for it to be stolen.

At the end of the day when youve covered insurance and alarm and the vehicle gets stolen what can you do? Just sit back and wait hoping its returned, if not then hopefully theres a nice big cheque from the insurance company!

got an alarm, immobiliser and full comp insurance which is killin me

Well i didnt buy it to go fast did i mate its an NA forester. but i have full comp insurance and an alarm. In an seriousness if you dont want your pride and joy wrecked save up for a daily and drive it on weekends and special occasions.
ignition
how about i key your car 30cm to bare metal and see how you f#@*en like it
ignition
i only get to drive it on weekends cause im year 10 in high school i parked it in launceston came back and a huge 30cm scratch to bare metal is on my car which is black so it shows up like dogs balls but yeah i spose i should have a cup of concrete shit happens
Jord
i have had a car keyed before mate. for those unfortunate circumstances u have full comp insurance. yes it is a pain to have to pay out the excess and have your car off the road while it is repaired but what can u do? you have insurance for a reason parking your car in a safe area is going to help sure but people are going to get jealous and do it in any area. you are 16 and have a skyline im sure plenty of bogans would hate you for it.
ignition
oh well the guys in hobart and down south way are the unlucky ones im never movin down there poor buggers
Jord
haha i live here 5 days a week and its a shit hole. but bogans are everywhere. you do everything you can to keep your car away from these theifs and if they want it they will get it no worries.
hammondracing21
u get that everywhere mate back in 2000 i had a nice 97 vs sedan black and i parked it in a carpark and away from everyone but i came back out too find a trolly mark in the left back guard and some arse hole keyed the right doors and back guard all in one hit. insurance i could have used to fix the marks but as i was only 17 i was paying 3200. a year with a 1800 exess due too my age and the car, i just paid it out of my pocket. so its not just here in tassie its everywhere, there are jealous people everywhere who only wished they had nice rides instead of a banged up early commodore or ford or a sigma, or even a bmx which is stolen to start off with.
ignition
i must admit i caught a couple of bogans get out out of an old commo and start lookin in the the car i was sittin down eatin lunch about 20m away and they were there for a fair while a bit to long to just admire it so i set the alarm off with the remote and i swear they were speed walking back to their commo trying not to look suspicious by running i thought their reaction was piss funny lol
delazy
it happens absolutely everywhere...

wat makes it seem sooo bad is the fact that the tasmanian community is so small and close knit...everyone knows if something happens...

across ns.com, tascommodores, boostcruising you basically account for 95% of the tasmanian car scene...i know for a fact a large amount of the local enthusiasts even without an account frequent the forums and dnt post...
ignition
yeah i rarely post unless it is for buying or selling parts

true that!!!

as with the whole cars being stolen from here after being posted in fs section... i think the best preventative method is not to meet potential buyers at ur house or the address where the car is parked frequently... if they dont know where it is, they cant steal it... i know there is other ways they could find out, but really, its not too much of an inconvenient measure to take... but yeah, a good quality alarm and immobiliser is a must... as is insurance against theft...

(disclaimer: i am not suggesting that there is any particular user of this site involved in the thefts of these car from the fs section, i am simply noting the coincidence and viewing it as a possibility.)

yeah i very rarely sell stuff from my place for that reason..
i have 2 kill switches in the G, and i would bet my left nut on it, that the 2nd one wouldnt be found.
i told 1 person where it is, so if the car gets knocked, i will be going to see ke303800 first laugh.gif tongue.gif

like my ebay mailing address is at my mums place, for 2 reasons.
#1, mum is generally always home to collect the stuff for me
#2, no one in risdon vale would steal ya mail/parcels rolleyes.gif

nice attitude.

my car has been walked over, ran in to, scratched, knocked, and dinged, it's just a fact of having cars. this is in the three years after a full restoration/respray. luckily i found out the person who walked over it, a mere 4g's worth of credit card debt for him.

the other marks? you just have to get over it i guess. or become a bodyworker. or don't drive. or get savvy and don't park near anyone or anything.

I wasn't having ago or ranting on the poserablity of subaru drivers - just felt in the spirit of "dodgy people" that comment had no relevants. smile.gif Simply fact - people are jealous c$unts, the amount of nice cars kicking about Hobart shows peoples passion and hard work - sadly their are some that don't want to work hard to have good things so they take it out on the general public.
Over the weekend 10 cars are P.As had badges removed and some were damaged badly for something as simply as aquring a Holden, Porche embolen.

Street juctice would be nice but it would be better if the cops actually did something to these car theifs/ vanderlisers instead of slapping them across the farking ass and sending them home.
Why can't the implement a system where known vanderlisers serve some form of time doing maintance to the tracks across Tasmania, then hopefully they'll learn and value the car scene, the particpants, and something to benifit us all - Have facilites that are used on a regular basis kept in good condition.

lol i wouldnt think too much of the subaru comment lol.. its made by someone who thinks his falcoon is the fastest car on boost.

but ot: i reckon make the cun.ts clean up burnt out cars and houses that have been broken into.. then make them actually go get a job and make them pay for the damage they have caused.

maccar33gtr
I agree with both the above comments form Q-Ship and Whiterex. there are alot of nice cars getting around Tas and seeing Summer is coming up iam sure we will see more. There are heaps of decent people around the car scene and people who aren't in the car scene that love their cars work real hard to maintan/modify etc. There are alot of people who are jelous and want what they can't have or afford which is a pitty. Tas has become a bit of a crime haven lately. I agree make them pay for damages out of there pay make them work it off

yeah i agree with the above comments it is just a shame that alot of nice cars dont get driven and are locked away in a garage because of someone who causes damage to them. i will have to get out to a couple of cruises in the north if there is any. dont know many people on this site but there seems to be some top blokes and girls on here.

dont recall him saying this, maybe you could reframe from anymore keyboard hero comments and tell him all about it in person, sick of sifting through the bullshit to find the occasional OT post. im sure alot more are, so if ya dont prevoke the arguments they might not happen...

now back to it, i agree that these bogan scumbags need ALOT more than what they are getting, but thats just not gunna happen. but as its been said ya cant do anything yourself coz they call assault and then u get the shit for protecting your property. so al we can really do is stuff our cars with as much anti theft shit as possible, take ignition module inside with u at night, rig up a dozen kill switches, and pay through the nose for insurance. or maybe something more imaginative?? i read somewhere on boost a while back about a bloke who had a set-up involving a nice big steel block... that could work?

theres so many nice cars locked away not due to the fact that ppl wanna damage them, but due to the changes in law now making it alot easier for police to defect you or confiscate the car...

personally once the ae86 is finished itll remain rego'd but will rarely if ever be driven on the street mainly due to these factors...the other deciding factor is also the level of driving...

i might not be the best steerer in the world and i can live with myself if im the one to write it off, but if someone not paying attention was to write the car off then thats the complete opposite...as is happening all too often lately...knowing 3-4 modified cars that were write off due to having someone run up the arse of them while they were parked at traffic lights...

then theres the fact it may not ever get finished lol *in before everyone else makes the same comment* lol

Ok first i would like to start by saying nice way to really introduce yourself thumbsup.gif Secondly i would like to say if you think theres so many dodgy people in Tasmania, uh how can i say it? ummm hmmm F*CK OFF pretty sure the airports still open and the spirit of tasmania is still floating. Move to Melbourne or Sydney see how you go :)for dodgy and car theft. Im sorry mate but these things and i agree totally with delazy tassie is a small close knit community so you hear literally about every lil thing which involves vandalism to awesome cars. Theres a bitching thread to just FYI and maybe sell the Skyline and use a bus. Theres a lot of good people on this forum and in Tasmania the dodgy side of things is the minority. If there was a post for every person that has worked their ass off all to see it f*cked by criminals Boost would explode live and learn i say.

Its just not practical to own a 'desirable car', something that tends to be popular with theives. The only way I will ever own a car that will attract too much attention now will be if its strictly a weekends only type car, something that doesn't see alot outside the shed.

Would be nice to have something like a WRX for a daily but I know what would happen...
