Well the rx7 got stolen from outside my house last night and is properly fucked up.

Police believe the window was smashed then the car was rolled out of my driveway, pushed down the road and then started when it was out of earshot.

It was found at 10 this morning by a some randoms walking by in lenah valley. No prints, nothing on the car.

Out of fuel, battery flat. Thats probably the only reason they didnt get further because I deliberately let the fuel run out the other day.


Damage comes to:

Destroyed clutch
Diff is screwed (doesn't drive properly...) and super clunky and whiney
Drives like its jumped heaps of gutters so the suspension has damage
Smashed passenger window
Most likely blown or damaged engine (hunts big time on idle, misses and carries on, blows white to black smoke) I think due to being over revved
No rear rubber left
Console destroyed when they stole the stereo
Brakes feel properly destroyed - hardly stop the car, shudder, make it want to step sideways.

So I am trying to decide whether to sell it for parts or repair it. Honestly I am in two minds. It drives terribly at the moment but drives. The bodywork is as is. Rims are still on and untouched.

I am thinking I would go with a 12A turbo ported with a big top mount, new brass button clutch, hilux diff or nine inch ford, and new brakes along with replacing everything else that is damaged.

Basically turning it from a daily into a weekend car which is what it was becoming anyhow.

So any ideas anyone? I will have a better idea of the damage tomorrow when I get off my arse and get over the depression and start looking at what actually needs to be done.

On a side note if anyone has seen anything pm me. I would love to catch up to the guys with a length of pipe and a roofing hammer.

Yep. I heard all the reports of stolen cars while the forensics woman went over my car. It was scary that I recognised all of them over the radio from this site.

As soon as I heard green Silvia gold wheels I knew SPG had a car missing.

fark mate thats crap, sounds very similar to how I found my RX7 when it was flogged last year, and same condition too by the sounds.

Its a cash flow problem that stops me from doing that, the problem being there is none. I was applying for a loan though so who knows. It may rise again - my aim if it does is something that runs 11s.



I only had third party, because I have lost my license twice already it makes it expensive to go with comprehensive or fire and theft. Next time though screw the expense if it saves the car.

That really makes me feel like someone shitted in my cerial hearing your car stolen and abused like that. You may be able to take some comfort in knowing that the people responsable would be incapable of creating a well tuned, high powered, eye catching pussy magnet from a factory car or even sustain an honest job long enough to pay for one because they have such a basic train of thought that they couldnt win a game of checkers against a down syndrome chimpanzee. Spend the time to do as many repairs as you can yourself you will save money and learn alot about your car, however if your not well mechanically minded it may be cheaper too start anew. Good luck and dont let fuckwits get you down.

my advice. unless you really love the car, part it out or sell it whole. not worth putting alot of effort into something that you will loose interest in halfway through what your doing. if i didnt have awsome mates that would come round and help me finish what ive started, my car would be there forever untouched.

The few cars that i have had stolen and recovered i have sold them off, as me personally don't want something that someone else had raped.

Yeah well part of me wants to make a point and the other half is just saying cut and run. I will leave it till tomorrow to work out which way I go. No point jumping in half depressed and with no idea what I am in for exactly. I have done huge resto jobs before but right now I need transport.

If I decide to part with it I will probably aim for a R31 or a bike of some description. Who knows? All I hope is that they find these arseholes.

nah i had a vn ss stolen a few years ago by a well known family, got it back but was thrashed had to sell it wasnt worth the time anymore

mine wasnt insured because they wouldnt cover me until my alarm was fitted, was 2 days away from being professionally fitted

Well there is some good news. We did a compression test on the engine and mucked around a bit and now its running fine.

Clutch is a bit average even after changing all the fluid. Diff seems fine, looks like the damage was to the suspension.

So total damage comes to: smashed passenger window, suspension needs looking at (no visible damage probably just needs a wheel alignment), new tyres, centre console, door trims, needs new front discs, needs new front pads, ball joints and a few other bits and pieces.

I think given that it runs and all it will be sold. I have no idea how much for though

Far out Police/Australia's Legal system needs something done. Grr, even if they catch the people resposible(which it turns out is unlikey) they would only get a slap on the wrist.

Its back but its about to be gone. Offers around $3000 people, considering it was selling for $4500 thats a considerable cut even considering the damage thats there. May take $2500 in cash (so thats 2k off).

The Police want to start doing something about stolen cars and start to take it seriously and stop worring about "hoons"

IMO they need to increase the punishment of a lot of crimes, not just car theft

Yeah if I get something more expensive it will have full comprehensive - screw the expense.

i just go 3rd party and fire n theft. full comp i would only bother if i was a shitty driver, 3rd party i only get just incase i make a tiny mistake and ding sum1's new car and have to pay 2 grand in ridiculously expensive body repair (you know who you are ) and fire n theft is only an extra $85 a year, for peace of mind thats pretty good, and i have agreed value. if ur over 25 go with shannons, if not, justcar is quite cheap...

wouldnt have helped this guy anyway the car was returned. Most Insurance companies will only pay out if the car is goooone . if its returned then they dont pay anything and he would be in the same position as he is now
