What motivates you to pump iron?
Ill start
1. Being bullied
2. always been the smallest (height, weight, mass. I am like a smurf compared to the people i know.)

I was never bullied, but I was always the shortish skinny dude. I was also pretty unfit and out of shape when I started. Once I started seeing results, I just couldn't stop. Plus the endorphins, you don't realise how good they make you feel until you have to take some time out. I will be one of those 60 year old dudes still chopping away at it in the gym. It really is a way of life, and once it consumes you, you can't go back.

Yeah I was tiny at highscool, about 55kg (if not less) and only about 165cm. Was not bullied but was sick of being a little weakling. Currently im over 70kg. Love seeing results, love seeing myself lifting more than I ever could before. Im desperately trying to get myself to the same strength/size as I was before I dislocated my shoulder which: 110kg bench @ 71kg.

The fact that 6 months ago I would have laughed at the thought of going to the gym now I can't stay away.

The results are the most pleasing and motivating and it's your body, you only have one and people admire that you work extremely hard for it. Also from the time my Ipod goes in my ears, all of life's little problems become insignificant for that one hour of my day.

Actually thats true also... Once the loud music hits my ears my time is my time nothing can bother me except a shitty song because the ipod is on shuffle.

Was training on and off for about 4 years before but nothing too serious. But decided to focus and work hard both at the gym and with my diet. That was from about 8 months of strict routine and meal plans.

Pretty much the same as Damo but with the addition of just wanting to feel comfortable with myself and my body. And cause a special little someone is know coming to the gym with me I have a lot more motivation to reach these goals. Plus we go everyday so get to spend some much needed quality time with them. Haha.

Haha. True Im just very iunno you could say paranoid or selfconcious. I've got some good muscle on me already I've just got a fair bit of extra baggage to lose. I've been training on and off for the past 7 years. For both rugby and just as an outlet for my frustrations and anger rather than lashing out at people (yes I have an anger problem). So I have very strong and large legs. Lol. I should have focused alot more on upper body and core strength when I was younger instead of leg strength, but thats what a front rower usually needs most, strong, powerful legs.

I get motivated because I never thought in my life that I would be able to get muscles, looking at all my mates who party constantly look like shit and never go to the gym and then get angry when a girl comes and talks to me instead of them because I have a nicer body then they do.
I know its vain but ALL guys who go to the gym and start seeing really positive results know what im talking about.
I love when I haven't seen someone for a good year and the first thing that comes out of their mouth is "wow omg you have muscles now!"
It makes you feel good not only on the inside but the outside as well to know people are noticing
