Do it mate! The best Commo's are the early ones. Rare as hens teeth now.

Not baggin you out mate, but their not rare as hens teeth.
You might not see many pre 88 model commos on the road, but their still common.
Unless you pick up a genuine 1 owner model or even a SLE / Brock model I wouldn't waste my time or money.
I'd personally opt for a older model Holden - pre commodore. Kingswood, Torana or something older.

Exactly... You may see a lot rotting away in paddocks. BUT! You see fuck all clean ones on the road. Especially V8's. Brink Back the Pre-VL Commodores!!

I prefer the older cars myself, but I must admit to a soft spot for the VB/VC commodores. I've owned a couple, including a REAL nice VB SL/E with 308, TH350, LSD and power everthing. One of the cars I wish I'd kept.
Having said that, I do prefer old skool cars.
Just do want YOU want to do, not what the clowns on here tell you to do. You build a car to what YOU like. If you wanna nice, tough VC, go for it...if not - dont do it! SIMPLE!!

Yeah, vb-vp are cheap as chips now and in plague proportions lol. I had a bloke offer me a auto 202 vb sedan for free a while back, told him i wasnt carting his rubbish away for him lol. It was going but the body was pretty ordinary. Auto 202 are hell sluggish too, struggling to lay a burnout... such a nugget stocko.
Bugger the 253, throw a 308 in it and stop fooling around.

I reckon the best commodores where the ones with the chrome bumpers mate - if you can find a decent V8 VB, especially with a 4 speed, go for it. ANd im a ford man haha...
But yeah look dont stress about what people think of them, that is the wrong way about it - build a car YOU like, and do it the way YOU like.

VB to VH FTW, V8 optional extra, and like the others have said, build it your way, get it the way you want it and its a much more rewarding drive, personal experience talking
