check your speaker wires from the amp ar'nt touching together check that the wires goin into the amp are in there allocated slot and not touching each other or the amp
check the wire on the back of your head deck should be a blue wire with a white stripe make sure that is connected properly to the wire that is supposed to be connected to it (there should be a little wire connected to the amp right near your power wires it should be the same coloured wire connected to the blue/white wire on the back of your head unit
if you dont know how to do that get some one to

Another tip - make sure the earth wire from the amp to the body of the car is as thick or thicker than the cable used to power the amp. Correct earth is neccessary.

For somebody who has apparently been doing it for ten years, you obviously don't know shit. Too much gain = protect mode for most amps.

Check wiring first, check your sub isn't blown (shorted out would lead to the amp going into protect mode), turn gain down and see if it fixes it, etc.
Where are you located?

Moved to Car Audio.
You'll actually get legitimate responses now.
Edit: trh, I've been in car audio for 5 years now. It's been 5 years since I installed my last headunit...

if its a boss audio BA1000 amp it has cooked itself. these amps have been known to fail within 10 minutes of professional installation and have also been known to work for many months before any problems arise. return to point of purchase if still under warranty.
cheers.

you bought a hand grenade. if that light is on - turf the amp - its FCK'D and NOT worth fixing.
