Simple. I got a 7" monitor i need wired in. Got all the wire colors on a diagram etc. Now with wiring do i just chain it straight off the same wiring the dvd headunit is on or should i wire it seperate?

EDIT: I am currently running a Single DIN DVD Player and wish to put a Single DIN screen in the spare hole. What would be the best option for wiring up the screen? the DVD player is currently already running off the factory wiring.

i wired my 6 inch screen thru factory wiring. just soldered and heat shrinked the wiring. no dramas. was factory wiring i used aswell.
i dont see a need to run a seperate power supply. just make sure u fuse the power input. i also ran a new larger earth off the head unit as i didnt know where the factory wiring was earthed.

im sure someone will tell me im wrong haha
works fine for me though.
RollinLow
should be right to use original wiring. Just earth out the screen onto your earth wire so you can watch the screen while your driving instead of handbrake like it says in the manual.
It should be the same as wiring a normal headunit in basically..

Yeah well i've already got a Single DIN JVC DVD player. I want to chuck my Clarion 7" Single DIN in with it so was wondering if it was safe to run both off the same wire from the factory wiring.

It will be fine, however you 'may' need to up-rate the fuse if your using your original headunit wiring.

I'm running another power wire straight from the battery with an inline fuse in it to supply the power. Seeing as the new HU is doing a lot more than the factory ever intended, I think it's a wise addition.

DarkAgent
i agree with above. if ur running 2 units off the same power supply upgrade and fuse it. mine is single set up. hence running one supply which is factiry.
i wouldnt trust 2 units piggy backed onto one factory power supply.
Felix_TRX
Not running 2 units, just one double DIN HU, radio, DVD, GPS, Dig TV.....lots more than the factory wiring was ever intended to support.
DarkAgent
mines DVD,TV,BT,MP3-4 yada yada but no GPS.

Input for aftermarket unit is 12v. As informed by labels on unit and instructions.

the Factory DD unit said 9.8v but wiring supports 12v for the later CD/changer model.

so i had no second thoughts about wiring it to factory.

sorry greg i thought he meant he was running a head unit with a add on screen.
i understand now. lol

Now I have re-read the OP, it's not really clear if Dan is talking about a double DIN HU, or a 7" screen running off a single DIN HU.

Await with baited breath!

Piggy back off the HU wiring, but add in an inline fuse as protection.
icefusion
just hook the wire up to your headunit ones, it'll work fine, no real need for a fuse either, there will be one in your fuse box protecting all that wiring.
Nichy
just run bare wire from the batttery under the carpet out your glovebox and through the centre console though a hole you drilled.... dont worry about fusing it as thats just silly.... make sure its all working by getting some sparks going too lol..

you could use factory wiring,..... but it isn;t to hard to run a seperate wire and fuse it and then give it a good ground as well.... will be sweet then tongue.gif
