hey guys, i just bought a dirtbike today and being forgetful, forgot to put it in the shed and left it out in the yard, now its raining pretty heavily and i was wondering if the rain will cause any damage to the bike, i'm thinking it's going to take forever to start tomorrow because of it

They're designed for transportation. Sometimes they get ridden in the rain, sometimes they get left in the rain. It won't cause any problems except being dirty.

Im not at all into dirt bikes, but the fact they're pretty much designed to get thrashed through mud and puddles should answer the question!

ive probably done more than 5000km in the rain, at least 1000km in torrential downpour without a problem
It may not start the very 1st crank in the morning, but there should be no longterm effects

Your right, it is 'kinda stupid question'
No, the rain wont effect it.
All the electrics are sealed units, the bike will be fine.
I accidently on purpose rode my bike into a puddle up to the seat yesterday. Muffler was temporarily under water and it nearly died on me, but aslong as it keeps running, dirt bikes will handle pretty much anything.

lol yeah i knew it was a dumb question, but the bikes a cheap shit chinese 250 so i keep thinking even a strong wind will break something on it, it still starts up fine and goes good so im happy it can handle some rain now

Unfortunately my bike lives out side, not under a cover either. So it cops the weather pretty sweet... Hasnt missed a beat.

as long as you dont start it with a wet air filter, you should be fine... if it does suck in water it can lead to a rusty intake and milky oil which is not good... so dont ride it throught flood water
