Hey all just wondering what's a good way to get more power out of a 2005 Turbo Diesel Ford Courier. I have worked on diesel machinery but nothing performance as they were escavators and whatnot. I was thinking of putting the boost up a little and going a bit bigger intercooler for a bit extra power but i dunno what would be safe on diesels since i never tried to get more power out of any, cheers

Go and get it done by a pro. There are heaps of diesel workshops around Brisbane that can get you that extra power without touching anything mechanical. They just place a performance chip in your ECU and reprogram it whilst on a Dyno. I had my Hilux done a few years back and when I got it back it had and extra 35% more power and heaps, I mean tonnes of extra torque (before and after dyno sheets). Cost about $895 all up with tuning and it was a really top mod. The place I had it done has closed down now but just get on google/ yellow pages and get ringing aound.

mate a 2.5 or 3 inch exhaust, pyrometer and boost guage would be the go, run a bit more boost and a bit more fuel and keep an eye on your engine gas temperatures and you should be good to go

Micko, is that your final answer?
I'd suggest going and having a look underneath a turbo vehicle sometime
mainly around the exhaust manifold area

mate i have a 2005 Navara STR Turbo Diesel and I am looking at the following:
3inch straight through exhaust with hi flow diesel cat and dump pipe. Also adding an aftermarket air filter (i currently have a snorkel)
DP Chip and tune
a good outcome.
Exhaust quoted from Driftking $1600
DP Chip from a mechanic at Brendale is $1600 installed and tuned.

pretty sure DP Chip is a plug and play, with selectable tune onboard.
had a few customers with STX's with them, and they were like 1100, you can fit yourself in 5 minutes

dont think you can put a chip on couriers, they dont have electronic fuel injection

put washers between your actuator and your front housing of the turbo

holds the wastegate shut for longer

3" exhaust would open it up heaps too. give it a lot more torque for towing...
