Open up your PC and connect it up using a SATA cable.

It's a diff type of connection
Chris
Serial ATA is SATA.
The connection will be an 'L' shape, that will run from your Mobo to HDD.
Power will be similar, just a longer looking 'L', which will run into a Molex (4pin).
Here's a picture of the data side that will run into your HDD.

depends on the laptop. it might still be a PATA drive.

You can also buy an external 2.5" hard drive case for the laptop HDD, which will turn it into a portable HDD connected via USB.

Thats what I did with my old Creative Nomad mp3 player - pulled the HDD out and put it in a $16 USB external case, and turned it into a 40Gb external drive.

Eh, 40Gb was impressive back then tongue.gif

The biggest benefit of using a 2.5" (aka laptop) drive is that its fully powered by USB, and thus works just like a USB thumb drive or whatever. No external power supply needed.

He said in his first post it was SATA...

TRK's route is good also, i've got an old SATA to USB adapter i pulled from external HDD (And a case to suit 2.5" drives) but i'm not sure if its universal for all 2.5" drives.
I dont have a spare drive to test it on either.
