hi guys need some quick info, i have an old e30 bmw sitting on some simmons v4 with king springs with a stock 1.ltr m10 engine, kinda stripped down interior wise, how would this go trying to drift, had it for awhile and though it might be alright to learn in? its got rather high gears does about 100 in third! any expertise welcome!
albertt
well, m10 engines are slow man

get a M20, with a 325e block and a 323i head... so its a 2.7L stroker,

I get chirps on 2nd and 3rd... and wheelspin in 4th in the wet

guys i wasnt asking about engine conversions lol! i really dont want to mod the beemer at all, just want to know if it will get sideways, its either track it or sell it
clutch-monkey
sell it to someone who will then imo, it's not very lively with that engine

I have my e30 and im looking for another
ryan12590
after about $900 comes with foha body kit all round, which i havent seen on any other e30 even searchng the net, and also sits on simmons (not around anymore..rare?) v4's which sold seperatly would fetch anywhere up to 800, and i have reciepts for brake refurb and oil changes/ services for a total of $2000 at bmw tasmania, also comes with a mod plate for aftermarket seats, bad points, the body is in primer, and interior is missing passenger seat, car is in A1 mechanical its an 85 model, manual transmission, brand new interior carpet, and comes with boss kit and aftermarket steering wheel as well as the stock bmw which is fitted, car is also fitted with superlow king springs($300)

the value of the parts that could be sold seperatly is well over asking price!

i get 190km/h at 5,000rpm in 3rd not reving out lol i dont think ur gears are high

put a small turbo on it to spool at low boost and might go alright with a locker and coil overs
ryan12590
what type of car is that in? for a 20 year old car with a 1.8ltr engine back in its day im guessing wouldnt be to common, but thats why germans have autobahns unfortunatly for the rest of us tongue.gif

yeah thats the other thought looked into forced induction, was thinking chinese low cost or a stock t25 off someones old skyline in decent condition, but! an exhaust mani for an m10 engine is a hard find, only ones that have them for sale is a company from usa, and 318i back then didnt come exquiped with the programmable chip unfortunatly so not sure how i would go about tuning..without going standalone/piggyback

then go round with new nolathane bushings, and maybe whiteline sway bars

and that should be decent enough for a learner such as myself for the time being, but if anyone is interested might chuck up a eoi in for sale section, just to see if anyone wants a project such as this, someone whos willing to put a bit more effort and money into this, secretly have been looking for the perfect s13 or 31 but hey
ryan12590
in a project such as this would you recommend going a mini spool or just going ghetto and welding?

it probably won't last long; i remember waaay back i thought about doing something similar but apparently these entry level bmw I4's are pretty weak, to get a decent turbo setup would cost the same/more than any decent engine conversion
.
of course if you're able to just knock together a cheap DIY turbo kit for a bit of fun before it shits itself, go for it?

but yeah as said might be better off selling it to someone willing to put more money/effort into it, and picking up a cheap S13 drift pig
ryan12590
yeah think im leaning in that direction, done abit of searching around and not really that much info on the small bmw being boosted seems rather problematic, probably just takes the right few people doing it to sort out all the problems unfortunatly i doubt im that talented best leav it to those who are, so yeah..900 anyone lol

put a 2j in it like me biggrin.gif
Nahhh but really if you were going to turbo it, u would be better off just putting in an sr20 probably same price in the end and would be better!
