Before you get the AE i would research abit more dude. Points:

1) At least get on your P's before you start drifting. If you dont know the basics of handling a car then how the hell will you know going sideways.
2) If you didnt take note of Point 1, Then good luck to you sir!
3) if you do get the car, First up get Coilovers (Make her real stiff) and start from there.

how can u say that? there is SO many kids under 17 years old racing cars and various styles and classes, even beating peopel who are twice there age. starting early will give him better learning and experience and will probably end up being a safer driver when he actually does get his license.
never to young to start something or learn something

I think H3R3TIC was trying to say that you should learn how to drive before you learn out to race (What ever catagory).

Sure there are people that are 17 that are racing, but they have probably beeing driving in a field somewhere since they could reach the pedals and see over the dash.

OP didn't really give us much background about his driving ability.

OT: Best tip, do plenty of reading about what happens when you do certain things to a car, so that way you can learn what to expect. Go to one of the "drift" classes they hold at Willowbank safe drive (I think thats what it's still called), or a skid pan day at Mt Cotton.

yeh u need a helmet.

45set: im sure he knows how to drive.. its not like hes gonna rock up with no clue... even if hes been driving 2 days, practice makes perfect and a track is the best place for it
drift1991
yea i can drive lol. just because i dont have my liscence doesnt meen ive never been behind the wheel.
i just wanna go out for a paractise day. maybe someone can meet me out there and come in the car with me to help when i get the ke70?
H3R3TIC
I know there a guys who dont have a licence and are good at sport driving. Point is (no offence) Drift1991 has "no clue" and he wants to jump straight into it. Go out to archie, meet afew of the drifters and get them to show you the ropes.

BTW u need parents signiture before you can hit up the track cause your under 18.

question is, is this also gonna be your everyday car? if so then coilovers are the only thing i can think of. or lock diff put thats fucked up lol
Tori.James
you dont actually need coilovers to drift. but yes it would help alot. if you dont have the funds for them, im sure you could find some decent stiff springs and shocks. suzuki sierra front shocks bolt into the rear of a ke70 with no mods at all and there stiff as anything, tho there super short so your car would have to be pretty low.
maybe uprgrade your fronts to 86 struts. making your choice of spring and shocks abit more variety, Strut Braces will also help stiffen up ya car.

if you wana go spend ya money on coilovers. AJPS make custom front coilovers for ke70's. the about $950 for the fronts. you couldnt put coilovers in the rear without some modifications and extra bracing...
(6kg rear and 8kg front is a good combo)
next is your diff. if ya dont want to fork out $1000 + on a diff. (T-Series with a 2way LSD) best option would be just to weld it up, as there is no such LSD for a ke70/ae71 diff (tho i heard you can buy full spools from repco) I have a locker in my Ae71 and it serves me fine. its just not road legal. tongue.gif

I demand pics of this ke70 your buying aswell smile.gif
drift1991
yea ill probably buy stiff springs and mini spools i cant afford coil overs at the moment.
is it illegal for mini spools? or to change springs?
thanks
Tori.James
It was only a rumour i heard that you can but spools for a ke70 diff. Just weld it biggrin.gif
Not illegal to swap springs. unless there cut. But Yeh suspension is the main thing smile.gif

TDKREP
hey man i was 14 when i started sliding in my ta22 celica it was a open diff with stock suspeion and it did slide well at least i thought it did i do have pics of it sliding smile.gif but i would recomd coming down to archy for a watch or even bring your cr ill even meet u there if im not broke that week hahah but yeah all u need is a car that doesnt leak oil seat belts and a helmet if your under 18 you will need a person over the age of 18 to sign you up smile.gif if you have any more question i am happy to help you wink.gif just add me on msn. suzukihatch_86@hotmail.com

Thanks Dan
