To put is as simply as I can:
The only bikes a learner RE/open RE licence holder can use will have "LAMS" on the rego lable.
Once you have done either a Q-Ride test or a QT test and upgraded to your open RE licence, you have to hold this for 12 months before you can upgrade to an R licence.
If you need further explanation or have any questions, feel free to PM me about is, as I work for the Dept. of Transport.

unless you've had your open car license for a year. unless they have changed that from a couple months ago

well thats just stupid
in addition for obvious reasons, you will no insurance of any kind, when you do get pulled over (and you will) you will get into a fair bit of trouble, and well there is no reason to ride illegally.

at $300 and no points, apart from the insurance i can handle it. but my current bike isn't illegal. merely that i was going to be looking to upgrade before the 1 year mark which under the previous laws i was able to.
an no i guess there isn't a need as such. sure is want though. 400cc doesn't lug around 130kg to well. still handles a treat though it is annoying being slower then my previous car by a lot

its 300 and 3 points. And if your not wearing p-plates thats a further 2 points and $160. Plus if they get you for anything on your bike

with details i got with the new laws it only said 300 dollars? and i'm on my open car license anyway so i don't have to wear p plates.
it probably won't end up happening anyway. but if i get the money there is a possibility.
