Hi all. I'm new to Darwin and am looking for an Escort or Cortina to get around in as my daily driver. Please let me know if you have a car for sale or any leads on someone who does. Thanks, Mark.
PS I may also be inerested in a Datsun or Corolla. Or if I get desperate maybe even a Sigma!

Has to be able to be registered- eventually. I'm willing to do mechanical work but all the drive line and 95% of parts has to be there. I'm willing to clean out interiors, wash, cut and polish, etc. Just don't want anything that needs major panel work, welding, etc. Guess I'm just after an original car that can be cleaned/tuned up for daily driving. Have cash, ready to buy. Would love an escort panel van! But am willing to settle.

It is a datsun 1600. if you want to see pics of it, you can see this thread here:
http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index....5&hl=datsunAnd i have a few more parts for it if you are interested in the car

This car looks a bit too modified for me. Unless you still have the original interior, hubcaps and such? Still 1600's are quality cars. What are the driveline specs? How much are you after? Cheers, Mark.

Well its looks heaps modified, but it isnt.
it is running an L18 with a small-mild cam in it atm.
5-speed manual
i have only had it for a few months, and the previous owner said that there was nothing wrong with it,
but the gearbox needs to be fixed, but i am replacing it when i get back up to darwin (as i a currently in melb atm).
it needs a bit of TLC, if you have a mechanic mind, you can fix these couple of things, which i am getting the parts
for it while i am down here in melb.
there is a really good base here, if you are looking for a cruiser.
my plan was to put a conversion in it using an FJ20E (which can come with the car for the right price).
the car by itself, i am looking for $4500 ono (this will include the gearbox being replaced)
if with all the spare parts (2nd g/box, full gasket kit, performance clutch, full bush kit and possibly if you want it, a full FJ20E half-cut),
i am looking at about $7500 o.n.o
after seeing what some people want for dattos down here in the condition that this car is in, with a few mild engine mods, they are easily in
the $10,000 bracket.

Youre right, the 1600's command good money. It's probably not the car for me although I'll keep it mind. I'm preferably after something a bit more factory original.

no worries. just remeber that factory original 1600s in good-very good condition are hard to find.
i've been lookin at a fair few and yeh, pretty hard to come buy in at least good condition all round.
