Yeah well basically, sometimes you can snap up a good deal off ebay, or other sites,
i dont really mind buying a scrappy car off ebay, cause i dont expect it to be good then find out its almost fucked cause im just basically going to pull it down and start again so yeah, it depends on what i get if i want something more i'd go say $1000 but yeah $500 would be ideal

Wouldn't mind getting hold of a capella or rx2 hard to find without rusted out busted ass shells or a 13b conversions done.

My idea is basically this:
Buy POS older car that at least runs, get new packages for everything, tune up stock engine so it just runs. Re do interior, wheels everything else while saving money. Once off P's engine (v8) and gear box swap.
Basically build the car up to receive the engine, when ready and off P's put big fun power in it and have a DD that I can still have fun with on the weekends.
Anything that will fit a v8 that isn't too hard to work on that looks good is what I'm after. I'd love a 78 torana or hq but they've either been half worked or sat in a shed for the last few years. Hard to find one rust free with stock engine that I can build around.

Got a Xe falcon 4 sale on ebay. 4.1 EFI, 4 speed manual, sports exhaust and extractors, ford motorcraft lowered springs, Dark green. Goes real well, needs 4 new tyres 4 rego i'd reckon. Does have a leaking exhaust manifold flange gasket, $5 for a new one i think. $500 and she's yours. Look under XE falcon or under the seller name warral_motor_works.

whatever you do, just get something with NO rust. don't get caught up in getting something that has extras or whatever... bodywork is the single biggest expense you will face with an old car so get something straight, and something with no rust.
be careful of resprayed cars............ often they're worse than ones with older paint as they can cover accident damage or even worse cover major rust.
