Lately I've been getting a "popping" feeling all up my arms when doing high amounts of push ups (4X100, 3X200)
Does anyone else get this, or know what it is?

Thanks,
Dylan
GreekWarrior
more importantly, why are you doing 600 push ups?

mmm can you be more specific? I'm thinking it's the synovial fluid in your joints, like when you crack your knuckles, it's the fluid that is making the pop sound, except it's happening in your shoulders, elbows and wrists?
but a better description of what you're feeling will help pin point the problem.

There's no sound, it's just a feeling. kind of like then you hit your funny bone and it tingles, but more of a tingly pop, if that makes sense.

Mmmbob?

Sorry, I used to have a similar thing in my elbows whilst at full lock.

Went away with time though.

Not really laugh.gif
Could be a muscle/tendon issue then. Is there any pain and does the feeling go away quickly or slowly?
Any physiotherapists in here?

It sounds to me like a repetitive strain injury or RSI 600 push ups is quite a lot, for a start the special forces entry test would not ask you to do that much any way.How long does it take you to do that many i use to do 100 on my knuckles in karate and that was hard enough.Change the position of your elbows and see what happens.Might have to see a sports injury professional for diagnosis .

Cheers mate.

The entry test doesn't, but once in training it can happen. When i was on a course there was an SAS training group at the same barracks and they got hit for 500 for eating the chocolate in their rations when they were told not to, 100 for each man who ate it, after not much sleep for weeks people forget things pretty quickly bowrofl.gif

video clicky

Not part of the RAR i know, and not an official special force, but this shows 500 is nothing for the elite in the ADF to have to do. 5 mins 40 onwards

And yes, before anyone says it, the PTI should have not counted almost all of the push ups

I was referring to this, sorry.

If there is no pain I wouldn't be too concerned about it. If I was in your position I would just continue on.

Ahh i see now. The best way i can describe it is it feels like someone has got the spark thing out of a BBQ lighter ans it sparking my arm, like kids used to do in school

It's to do with your nerves being pushed around. I get it all the times in both my hands/wrists.
Make sure your technique is correct.
