Tax man liked me this year, so i've spent a bit of money on supps which should last me awhile.

Everything except for acetyl and the krill oil i'm trying for first time. Wanting to see if i notice any difference with another brand.

Rather tight budget these days, so can't really go all out on supplements, just the cheaper stuff from Woolies at the moment.

Darky alot of the time the woolies stuff is actually more expensive than it is from supplement shops. If you have no decent local shops, do you have any mates who are chasing stuff also? Do a group buy over the net, most will charge a flat rate for courier sent to your door.

Greeky just that particular brand or ZMA in general? You will find most supplement shops have it, several brands usually too. Or just get zinc, magnesium, and vitamin b6 from your chemist and take them at the same time before bed. They are generally the main ingredients.

Another good stack before bed is 1/2 teaspoon of L-Ornithine, 1/2 of L-Arginine and 1 of L-Lysine. Helps stimulate your natural human growth hormone. There are lots of fancy brand name ones on the market, but that's a good cheap alternative of the basic components.

HGH is a natural occuring substance in the body, and is what keeps you youthful. Your body will only produce so much, and in times of stress, may not be making adequate. ZMA is just a good supplement to make sure that your body is getting enough of the macro nutrients required for the process of your own natural human growth hormone. Exercise tends to rob the body of many vitamins and minerals, especially zinc and magnesium. Some people tend to find they sleep better when supplimenting with ZMA, as it helps promote a restful sleep.

so when I was picking up my protein powder, I saw a small bottle of zma for $17 so I decided to try it, it's the musashi zma+ one. So how does this stuff rate? good? waste of money?

well given its been a few weeks nothing too noticeable ive filled out abit more, appearing more 'solid' and i honestly feel more healthy but that could be more so my improved diet. My lifts have improved, but i put that down to the 'white flood' product i got, that does the trick during training, definitely helps delay the lactic acid and energy levels skyrocket..putting the body tingles aside, elevated heart rate etc etc unsure.gif

How is the quality of your sleep? Biggest noticable difference with ZMA should be deeper and better quality of sleep. You should wake up feeling fresher and more rejuvenated. I tend to find it can be one of those supps you don't feel a difference til you stop taking it, if you get what I mean.

Maybe include some vitamin C and some B6 with it to help your body absorb it. Also they are best taken on an empty stomach, which really interferes with the fact most of us try and have some form of protein meal before bed. If you have them as seperate tablets, take some magnesium during the day also. Even taking zinc during the day won't hurt either, but vitamin C really helps your body absorb them.
GreekWarrior
yeah i heard if you take it with any diary products that most of the zinc doesnt get absorbed in your body

Yes because calcium is picked up by the same receptors as zinc. Hence why taking zma with a protein shake is not such a good idea either, as they tend to have a fair amount of calcium.
Silly Silvia
Oh god damn it! I have been taking my zinc, magnesium, glucosamine, with a protein shake before bed - thought id be lazy and knock two birds over with one stone.

I might just take them throughout the day now or something, because i eat a lot of dairy like cheese and milk, or maybe just before breakfast and not eat cheese with my scramby eggs.

I would suggest you just take them maybe 30 mins before your night time shake. They would be absorbed pretty much by the time the shake hits your stomach.
Silly Silvia
cheers b unit, thanks for the advice ill try that.

Trying out some new vitamins for next month.

Purchased Universal Nutrition - Animal Pak, has like 7 tablets in it all different sizes, slowly getting use to the size of it all. HA!

I was lazy and didn't purchase my usual ON vitamins from usa so trying this one instead. Good dosage of all the regular vits and mins and also some dosage of EAA's.

I found the animal pak to be quite helpful, although it's hell expensive for what like 43 dosages?

I finally got around to buying more L-glutamine, feel a lot better with recovery.
