Pretty simple, have any of you put HID's on your bike, make much of a difference at all?
I've always thought they were completely wanky really, and still do, but i ride a repsol baby blade, so clearly i want attention anyway, and those xenon's would get me some. And i suppose i could always write it off as safety features cause i ride with lights on all the time. A mate has recently got a spare set from a car of his, so i was thinking of having a tinker this weekend and seeing if i can get them fitted and working before work on monday.
Guess i'm just after your thoughts and opinions on bikes with HID's really.

1. Dont bother with anything but the slim ballast ones on bikes!
2. I'd go low beam only, as they have to "heat up" as such so they're no good for high beam.
3. They are illegal, prop dont care but worth mentioning
They're not really wank, as long as you get the right "temperature" lights, 6000-8000k seems to be the go for both looking blue-ish (and therefore fully sick) and also improving vision.
My work mate has 6000k for low beam on his gixxer 750 and his bike is a dream at night compared to mine, i dont think oncoming cars agree so much though.

Oh true, big difference between slim and normal ballast size? Fully sick was all i was really after in color, not green and purple and shit.

Yeah as Matt said get the slim ballast or you will have drama's. I had some fitted to my GSXR600 and they make a MASSIVE difference at night.
I also had some blue led's inside each air dam which was also handy at night for the useless pricks that reckon they couldn't see you coming

Theres a fair size difference, you'd struggle to fit the big ones on a bike neatly...

I have had HIDs on all my bikes, not only increased visability but they do look great.
I recommend 6000k
1000RR and 600RR usually require H7 bulbs, not common in cars.

Just set up low beam mate, you will find you wont need high beam much once they are installed

I had a set on my R6, but that has one side low beam, other side high. They were 8000k globes with slim ballasts.
Difference is UNBELIEVABLE. Worth the coin if you do a bit of night riding.

this is a noob question but how can you tell if they are on your bike? i know that my low beam is very bright and i get flashed by cars because they think i have high beam on. also when i put high beam on it does not make much differance it only seems to make the light a littel wider.
yeah i got HID on my zzr, was just plug in and was ready to go, had to switch some wires over as they are different to a cars.
but yeah i got mine for free from someone who had a broken one from there car so they had only one working one and gave it to me seeming i only have the one headlight so you might be able to find someone to go halves with on a set of car ones
i have mine set up to only run normal beam, but its brighter then the highbeam anyway so i never use highbeam
plus it makes everything clearer cuz of the light. And to answer XT falcons question, you can usually tell when someone has one cuz it burns your eyes or looks blue and bright

Superbike Supply have kits as far as I know, they're a good site too I've brought quite a few bits and pieces from them, my speedo healer got to Tassie in 2 days afterpayment too which was good.
