ok before anyone flames and says use the search button. i did and couldnt find the answer.
i bought a vz ute and found it had a buzzing noise when the car is running. as it has a clarion amp i figured it was the ground so pulled the seat out and shit found where the last dipshit did it. just put a roofing screw in and even left the rubber washer on it. so i made it have a proper ground and put everything back together.
turned car on and could still hear it. so then today i pulled the seat out and all the plastic and relised the ground cable was about twice as long as what is needed so i made it short and i moved the positive cable to the other side of the car cause i read on here if u run them next to each other it causes it. put it all back together and the fucker still makes the noise. i am out of ideas to fix this.
is there anyway it would be the amp is fucked?
thanks for any help

Are you running a high-low converter, or using speaker level inputs on the amp?

sorry to sound like a dumb arse but what are these?
in the back insted of having the red and white rca things there are 5 wires going into something that had the word "high" in it somewhere. sorry cant remember the full label.

It converts a speaker signal into a RCA-level signal so your amp doesn't overload. Cheap ones can lead to a fair bit of background noise.
What amp do you have? Grab the model number if possible.

It sounds to me like whoever installed the amp ran the power wire parrallel to the RCA wires

you will find the speakers of the head unit will have one negative wire and 2 positive wires for the front or rear speakers hence why the high input harness of the amp has 2 wires taped to one
if you go 2 jaycar and get one of these
http://jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA...mp;form=KEYWORDand plug those speaker wires into this and run some 1M RCA cables they should help
also with the earth if you take the paint of the contact metal for the earth wire ring you will have a very stable earth

Check your earthing mate.
Something as simple as that will produce the 'buzzing noise'. Make sure the earth is on bare steel and not over any paint.

all of the above solutions are worth a try. a line level noise suppressor might also help as would a ferrite filter on the positive power cable. anyone who works at jaycar will know what these are.
Cheers.

thanks guys.
i re did the earth and it was bare metal etc and it was still shit i separated the wires and stuff still made all the shit noises so i ended up just ditching the amp.
still goes loud enough and clear enough
