My mum wants to a buy a GPS within the next two weeks and we cant figure out which one to get, most of em in catalogues increment up by $30-$40 around the $180-$400 mark and they all seem to have certain different features to each other. The one thats looking good at the moment is the navman S90 which is $200 + $39 for 2 years extended warranty. Any recommend this system?.

Main thing it needs to have is at least a 4.3 inch screen for my mum and relatively simple to use/setup. Budget is under $250 unless there is somethin really special bout it but we only need it for maybe once a month use maybe not even that.

Thanx in advance

Would strongly recommend a TomTom over a Navman.

And I'd buy it from here:
http://www.ryda.com.au/TomTom-One-GPS-Navi...lue-p/onev4.htm
... because Ive bought plenty of things from Ryda and they've always turned up incredibly quickly, and packaged really well.

if i could find a 4.3" version for the same price or around that then i would get it, im not swaying towards any brand just need the 4.3" or bigger screen and dont really need other features such as live updates and inbuilt cameras

but ill see if i can find any cheap tomtom units anywhere

how do you rate the garmin ones? i think thats what they are called

Garmin is also better than Navman (build quality and robustness, as well as speed), but last time I looked they didnt look nearly as pretty (GUI wise), and seem to be a fair bit more expensive.

Missed the part about 4.3".... But does it need to be that wide? A 3.5" is the same height isnt it? The 4.3" is just a wide screen version...

Are you sure she cant up the budget a touch? Im such a fan of TomTom, and thats after spending LOTS of time (in fact, an obsessive amount of time) playing with all the different brands including Uniden (PS - lol @ unidens efforts) before buying my last one tongue.gif

yeh my mum prefers the wide screen one but i think i found that super cheap auto are sellin em for a decent price and my choice will be out of the following ones:
- navman S45 - $229
- mio moov 300 - $219
- mio moov 360 - $199
- tomtom go 720- $249

the mio ones i didnt have a clue bout but my mums used it before as her friend owns it and has been using for couple yrs without problems and my said it was easy to use

but if i go ill have a play round cos they usually have them setup on display i think and see how it is

Mio is cheap and shit, Navman is "ok". I'd pick the TomTom, even if its the older 720. I *think* they support the new map style anyway, which means you can get user updates to your maps for free - which are handy as.

You're only going to use it for 4 weeks, why is it absolutely necessary to have a widescreen one.

haha her money and thats what she wants also stuff to do with her eyesight but yeh its not for me, i just google map where i want to go and i can memorise where im goin and if i really need to ill print off the directions

Mate i specialize in selling gps units at work, straight up i'll give you a model that isn't listed.

Go for the Navman MY50T.

basically if you come see me i'll give it to you for $350.

Features include

4.7" LCD, touch or glide capability.
Unlimited Traffic updates from suna....
3d junction view
advanced lane guidance
2 year warranty
all the other shit all the other gps units have

the traffic receiver in it proves that its a much better unit, by far it's been the most popular unit i've sold.

I chose the Uniden over the TomTom, have not regretted it. Very good GPS.
