Hi guys,
My gym has a pool as well as weights & cardio but no sauna. Can anyone recommend one in Brissy that doesn't require ongoing membership?
Other obvious requirements are that it is clean and doesn't feature groups of naked European men (gorillas in the mist) getting their sweat on.

I have no idea, but I will rub in the fact that I have one at home

Are you with Finance First or Good Wife? Perhaps try some of their other clubs if your membership allows it.

I'm with Centenary, they only have the gym at Spring hill and the aquatic centre at Chermside.
Jealous of your sauna @ home, would encourage some sweaty sessions with the Mrs.

That shit was just purely gross.
Yeah Damo, I will do a Google/Yellowpages search. Definitely want to be the only person in the sauna room at the time after seeing that! I already get put off by saunas that have heaps of dudes in them together, it's even worse when they're old men or a footy team.
I hate it when guys wear nothing but an inadequate towel in the sauna, or even worse, nothing at all. The least they could do would be to throw on some budgie smugglers or something.
I just want somewhere to go to sweat out some toxins and clear out my pores.

All in all, saunas appear safe for the body, but there is little evidence that they have health benefits above and beyond relaxation and a feeling of well-being,” says Dr. Harvey Simon, editor-in-chief of Harvard Men’s Health Watch. However, heart patients should check with their doctors before taking a sauna. Studies show them to be safe for people with stable coronary artery disease. “But patients with poorly controlled blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms, unstable angina, and advanced heart failure or heart valve disease will probably be advised to stay cool,” says Dr. Simon.
He suggests that sauna users follow these simple precautions:
* Avoid alcohol and medications that may impair sweating and produce overheating before and after your sauna.
* Stay in no more than 15–20 minutes.
* Cool down gradually afterward.
* Drink two to four glasses of cool water after each sauna.
* Don’t take a sauna when you are ill, and if you feel unwell during your sauna, head for the door.

last point is shit..
Going to a sauna/steam room when sick is best idea. You'll sweat everything out, why would you want to sit around and wait for it to take its toll. It's why you drink heaps of water to flush your body, using a sauna is best idea when sick. I'll be doing it this weekend because I have a cold.

That's your opinion if you don't have any of the above health issues then do what your doing.
As far as being shitful information i would rather be right then wrong.
If you have a problem with me, pm me or if you like i will give you my mobile number.
cheers warr.

Where in my comment was I attacking you?
I read your comment, and i must say i mis-read it. I didn't realise he was talking about critically ill people, just thought he was talking about normal flu and cold type of illness.
Healthworks Everton Hills
Trust me when I say this, there's a side entrance where you can waltz straight in without anybody even seeing you and its on the lower floor. Nobody ever even uses the pool/spa/sauana and I have been there many times and none of the staff ever ever go down there until closing to lock it up. Even if they did walk down by chance like 99% unlikely they'd just think your a member anyway.

all good mate.
Yeah, this section is slowly growing more and more. I'm a real nazi when it comes to modding. I try to keep whatever i'm in charge of clean of any rubbish what so ever, even if it's a simple post. A clean forum is a happy forum.

Simplest way, it's someone who is given power to keep everything under control. Clean things up, issue warnings and so on. Don't worry, i'm one of the nicer mods. ha
But this section isn't like off topic, so no bullying or whatever happens here, all that stays in other sections.
All the fitness people on this site, got sick of creating a new gym thread in off topic every couple of days, so I asked nathan if he could create a section purely for us. It has made it alot easier for us all to communicate with one another.
