What're the consequences if you're caught riding a CBR1000RR fireblade 2007 model on your motorcycle Learner plates?

(im not a douche Learner Rider trying to punch above his weight.. i've got 1000cc race experience)

I just dont wanna sell my CBR1000RR that i've just converted back to street spec, to get a 250cc for a meazly 12 months before i can go unrestricted.

Fines from the cops if you get pulled over.

Will void any insurance if you have an accident.

Prob riding out of class fine, and they prob wont let you ride it home if you get caught.. Not sure what the fine is in QLD, but its fuckin gay in WA, you have to go to court..

^^^^ I think you were very lucky that you could ride home. It is the same as riding without a licence in terms of insurance. The police must have thought you WERENT a dickhead so they let you go. But very lucky

In Vic, it WAS 250-350 dollars and 2 points, however I think its changed now under the new hoon laws to something tougher than that. As usual so they can get more money out of you.

How old are you glasshouse? Seems strange IMO that you have raced 1000's, but have only just gotten your L's.

here in the NT you can do an advanced rider course so you can ride bigger bikes while on your P's, will be worth locking into if you can do something like that.

i got done riding harley on my Ls got fines for riding bike over capacity ..1650cc and 4 points and fines and 2 points for no L plates, got done again wil suspended only $405 fine couldnt do anything else coz was suspended,
then got done again riding my chopper, riding wile suspended, no rego, no insurance cops sent it to court lost licence for 1 year

that was in nsw and was told to get the bike towed home every time

Surprised a Harley wouldn't fall under the power/weight ratio tongue.gif

Regardless of what the fines/points are like, the bigger reason not to do it is the lack of insurance, both property and personal. Accidents happen, and if you're not properly licensed you could be up for a lot of shit. It's 12 months, just get a commuter 250 and save for track days.

unaccompanied by a open lic. holder, not displaying my L vest/plate, also the big one, riding a bike out of my lic. class which is considered riding unlicensed. almost $1000 in fines.

I just got my l's a few months ago, what restrictions on your p's power wise? could I ride a harley? or would I have to wait till after my p's

If I was a cop, I'd fine you for riding unlicensed... so it would be court appearance, big fine, etc etc. Bike road toll is massive, cops don't like you playing silly buggers.

As far as allowable capacities go, don't quote me on this but I'm sure this is what I'd read when I looked a while ago:

My understanding is 150kw/tonne with a 75kg rider (they don't go off YOUR weight they go off a neat 75kg), no more than 660cc capacity regardless of power, and prettymuch no two-strokes (some of the sub 250cc ones might scrape through).

So for example if you have a 160kg bike plus a 75kg rider you're at 235kg, which allows no more than 35kW (47hp).

There's an actual list, you can probably find it on QLD Tpt website, search for 'LAMS' which is Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme.
