I run a Toyo R888 and honestly don't like it.
Yoko's are Advans

the A048 and A050 are great tyres however the A048 has a tendency to hate being heat cycled. I would still rate them over the R888.
Kumho's are good as well I used them and liked them but I know plenty of people who don't like them.
Another option is the Hoosier R6. I am a big fan of Hoosier tyres and they have that model in your sizing.
I take it you are running a 120Y/1200/1600 a medium compound should do the job properly. Just be careful if you choose the R888 because they only sell their Hard compound unless you specifically ask for the medium compound. Some sizes also don't have the option.
If you are after any of those brands i can get my hands on a set for you.
Cheers,
Andrew
Actually sorry just put two and two together regarding your enquiry. I take it you are running a 180B or something similar sizing. Depending on weight (whether it is stripped or not) would send you either down hard compound or medium compound.

I am currently running 032r's and dont really like them. Found that wet weather grip is hopeless and they dont gather enough heat till about lap 3

I use the Yokohama Advan AO48's, an awesome tire for the track. Takes at least 1 - 1.5 laps to warm up, but then sticky-as....
Take care on the street, they are a cold tyre and have some road noise..........

Agreed.
Had a set of Advan (Yokohama) A048's on my track Civic I raced at QR and it was reliant on the first out lap to really get heat into them, but once they came up to temp they where fairly consistant through the session.
Toyo R888 just didn't offer as much corner grip, thou did come up to temperature faster.
The A048's have been superseded by the A050's and is a better tyre, otherwise RE55S seem to be the tyre of choice for the Japanese teams running time attack; which is basically a sprint race.
A list to look at
BRIDGESTONEhttp://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/motors...cing_tyres.aspxYOKOHAMA ADVANhttp://www.yokohamatire.jp/yrc/japan/tire/competition.htmlDUNLOPhttp://www.dunloptyres.com.au/TyreBrowseAc...websegment2=H20KUMHOhttp://www.fsport.com.au/fsport_siteroot/kumhotyres.htmlHOOSIERhttps://www.hoosiertire.com/rrtire.htmAnother manufacturer you might like to look up for relatively cheap semi's is

My old man racers a torana and did use Advans but he has changed to toyo, they run at a lower pressure rears 24cold 30/32hot and the front 22cold and 28/30hot for 5 laps they are great but racers go for 8/10 laps and turn to shit... Jim richards uses them but im not that happy with them.!

last sprint day i did a back to back comparison of R888's and the RE55S.
the toyo's were cheaper, but the bridgestones were just better.

The gun tyre at the moment is definitely the Dunlop DZ03.
probably medium compound on a light car for sprints.

Yep, they seem to be.
I can get in the Dunlops, Silverstones, Kumhos, Toyos and Hoosiers, haven't had anyone wanting the Advans so haven't bothered trying to source a supplier for them.
I'll be running the silverstone slicks and semi slicks on my time attack car and from all reports everyone has been happy with them.

RE55's no longer exist in Japan and have been replaced by the RE11. We still have RE55's in Australia as they are running out the stock & won't be bringing the RE11's in until they're gone.
I have just come back from tyre testing at Eastern Creek where we compared, back to back, the new Advan AO50 to the brand new RE11S RS (Racing Spec). Both were in super soft compound. I was the very first person to get my hands on a set outside of Japan & I must say they were incredible. Up to temperature in half a lap at EC and I found a pronounced difference with corner entry grip levels in particular. They were "off" after 2 laps at EC, however for Time Attack racing they were perfect. Times wise almost a full second up on the Advan's.
The goalposts have just changed again & I know for one I will be using the new RE11's for Time Attack racing.
I did not bother with the DZ03 given Mark Berry had already tested a couple of weeks before with the Dunlop back to back against the Advan & the Advan won out.

if you don't count other Asian countries, the USA who've had them since early this year, and a guy who ran on RE11S in the NSW ATC (Dutton) recently...
RE11S is the semi slick. RE11 is a completely different tyre so you can't drop the 'S' like people used to with the RE55S

Mate if you'll check my post I said "RS" which is the racing spec RE11, Yes Ben Quick used the RE11S in the NSW ATC, but that is a completely different tyre, the RS was released in Japan on Wednesday the 26th August & I was fortunate enough to get a set shipped out of Japan before they were "released" and use them at EC on the Friday....

I did read your post. you said everything from plain jane RE11 to RE11S RS, hence my clarification in the previous post.
the replacement for the RE55S is the RE11S.
The type RS is not a completely different tyre, its one of the compounds the RE11S is available in.

Traditionally they are the tyre rivals for Time attack races in Japan

They aren't a real semi, basicaly a stop gap like the KU36. Good if you want to use it for street use as well.
