SUPER SUNDAY REVIEW PRO TOUR Round 6 Carnell Raceway, Stanthorpe
Adelaide driver Leighton Fine Took another win in the championship drift series round at the awesome Carnell Raceway at Stanthorpe QLD.
After a fierce battle with Qld PRO John Cain, Fine has taken back the lead of the PRO TOUR. In an action packed day with 7hrs of non stop drifting the final was taken to a re run after Fine & Cain had a hard hit in the turn one, a high speed basin.
Series leader Josh Boettcher had clutch problems and finished in third place.
Another fierce fight was between Rob Whyte & Dan Kenneally with Whyte beating Kenneally after the cars tangled forcing a re-run.
The BIG ENTRY comp was a huge highlight with all PRO drivers using the 1/8 mile drag strip as the run up to the entry. After an exciting action packed fight for the win, Josh Young took the honours, followed by Kenneally & Nick York.
In an outstanding display of sportsmanship Leighton Fine requested a re-run of the final after the incident with Cain, he could of just taken the win. A mechanical issue with Johns car caused the hit, however "crab" being the sportsman insisted with the event director & the judges to allow Cain time (2min) to make repairs for a re-run.
The result was "battled for" rather than handed to Fine. This mateship among the STADIUM DRIFTERS is a clear indication of the attitude & respect the current Group of PRO drifters have. Considering that Fine is chasing a $5000 paycheck should he win the championship series, he still put a fair contest & sportsmanship ahead of all else, this was also very much appreciated by the crowd.
The Stanthorpe event which attracted 48 entries from NSW QLD & SA was an outstanding success at yet another RACELINE-STADIUM DRIFT venue. This takes us up to 10 tracks that host STADIUM DRIFT shows. With over 200 active members & the very best PRO DRIFTERS from NSW QLD & SA and memberships increasing, drifting in Australia has never looked stronger
