Lately I have been looking around with some companies to do my Q-ride with. Im interested to know whether to go with a 1 on 1 or group training course. I have no experience with motorcycles. Obviously the 1 on 1 course is a little more expensive, but money is not an issue if im getting better results at the end of the day.
1 on 1: AMA - $50 per hour (3 hours per day, avg 5 days = $750)
Group: Morgan and wacker - $400 ish i think
Ride smart - $$ unknown
All comments are much appreciated
Edit: Looking for a company for either north side of Brisbane or around Brisbane - no coastal companies

Done mine at Aegis a few years back now and that was in a small group. I dont think I would go for 1 on 1 as the groups are only small anyway (I presume they still are now) and there are benefits to learn with a few people there with you anyway.
Plus it gives you time to chillout a little whilst you watch someone else and learn from what they are doing/not doing right.

Last time I checked (five months ago) HART offer a weekend Q-RIDE for RE license @ $395.00 over two days.

I did mine at Ridesmart and can highly recommend Warren.
My fiance and boss both did theirs at HART and had no complaints.

I did mine through Team Moto (bought a bike thru them) and I had to go down to Moss St, I think it was the Honda dealership there. I recommend them, they were good, although I had a little riding experience already.
And as for the size of the groups, it is illegal for an instructor to instruct a group of more than 5. (Could be 4, but whatever it is)

No troubles, class size was 4 people

I looked around and got some quotes. 1 on 1 with the instructor is leading the pack with around $800 - bit out of my price range and as i think about it, id rather learn in a small group, learning off peoples mistakes etc. Looking at going with HART or ridesmart (both in my "neighbourhood") and both fairly well priced $350-$400 for 2 full days.

+1
although i had some experience. Having said that, I would of preferred having none, as I learnt a lot from the 1 day course, and it would have gave me the roadcraft to avoid the mishap I had on my L's on a mates 250.

Finally booked my course for this Friday and next tuesday with RideSmart. I was wanting to go with HART but they are pretty much booked out and I wanted to do it before I went back to uni. Its $380 - similar prices to HART and I'm pretty excited to get it done and get my bike. Thanks for the advise guys.
Next on my list is to get a bike for my height (6'4). Looking at keeping it "legal" (or under LAM laws). Maybe it would be best to learn off-road on a dirt bike or find a decent 600 roadie.

Yeah as long as the are LAM approved. Im keen on the "ducati monster" look - slightly bigger. Day 1 was pretty good. Only a 3 hour session and will finish the next bit (8hrs) on the next day. Got everything down pat, just getting used to using the clutch with my hands. A few stalls considering I have been driving a manual car for the last 3 years...

went through cycle right out near manly , all one on one in depth training great people , think it's about $60 an hour and it takes as long as it takes to get you riding right ...
