Full Version: Workout Routine For The Girlfriend?

hey guys

could anyone help me out with a workout plan for my girlfriend i want her to keep going to gym with me(keep her motivated) she isnt very strong at the moment so strength improvment would be good.... wondering wether to start off with just body weight exercises or get her straight on light weights? shes not really into running that much but mayby abit cardio somwhere thrown into the program...

any help would be great

Depends on what she actually wants and what kind of shape she is in. Skinny, Lean, bigger than average?

Me personally I like the fit chick look with some definition, so I'd go with some light weight training (gym ball etc) and cardio. Running, rowing, skipping, swimming, biking, and any other cardiovascular exercise is great to get conditioned.

With women I find it is alot more difficult to get them motivated. Group classes are the easiest way to beat this (or PT sessions if your feeling rich), or does she have any friends who go to they gym and actually work out?

Failing this just get her started on light weights, compound exercises. Do some sessions with her and just alternate sets, so she will learn proper technique.

You might also have to start cardio with her just until she gets the hang of it, girls tend to slack off a bit on their own, not all girls, but most.

Motivation is going to be the hardest part, if you can conquer this hurdle she will be set.

I dated a girl a few years back who started going to gym with me. The only way she was motivated is if I let her actually train with me. She would do every exercise that I would, from triceps extensions to squats, bench and deadies. I was fucking in love with this chick.

I go to the gym quite regularly, my friend does come occasionally which is usually more fun but i find i dont work as hard when she's there lol. The only way i stay motivated is to look at my goal and make sure i relax afterwards. I usually do aqua aerobics (spelling) about twice a week (sounds a bit gay and old ladyish but its fun so it makes it easier to do) after that i will relax in the spa or steam room for a while before heading home. Otherwise i will jog on the treadmill for about half an hour, cross trainer about 15mins and do some rowing or ride a bike depending how much of a rush im in, stretch and go home.

Definately invest in an ipod to keep her entertained smile.gif. I try not to do anything i will get bored of and try to change what i'm doing each time i go to keep me interested. I would love to go to more classes but unfortunately by the time i get there from work most of them have already started.

Also, im not sure about her but the biggest problem i had when i started at the gym is i felt heaps insecure lol like everyone was staring at me lol make sure she knows everyone is there to work out and no one is there to judge, ur not there to impress people, its not a competition smile.gif

She will find if she sticks to it though when she starts to see results, the results will motivate her smile.gif thats wat helped me stick to it.
