Just wondering what everyone's thoughts on cable bench press were? Pros/cons?
I have some problems with my left wrist that prevent me from doing BB or DB bench, so I'm hoping cable can give me the same results.

Edit - how can i fix my spelling in the title?

Im not really too sure as ive never used one, but not needing a spotter would be a plus but that would mean you arent lifting heavy, therefore wont produce max results.

What's wrong with your wrist? i've got wrist problems too, and have to strap them for bench.

When i was young i fell, bending my hand back so my knuckles touched the top of my forearm, and never saw a doctor about it. Sometimes something clicks in my wrist and it will just flop back. Found this out benching once, not a fun experience in a nearly empty gym

It's funny to occasionally just bend my wrist back and freak people out. But in the gym it's just annoying

That's gross I'd pass out if i saw that.

Honestly I wouldn't know how effective it would be from any first hand experience. But if you are incapable of using Db or BB then you don't really have choice. It's like people with screwed backs who can't do squats, so they are stuck with the leg press, although not as effective, it's better than nothing.

what part of your hand does the bar rest on?
omwtfbbq
clicky

No bar, i'm using this technique. Can make the hoops sit anywhere/face my hand either way. Others say you can use a bar, but im worried about what would happen if my wrist let go

I don't mind using the seated chest press machine at my gym with the two handles at chest height that you push out on, is that what you're talking about?

You can get a good smooth rhythm with it pushing the weight out and controlling it back in and you'll actually be able to press a heavier weight than your strength would allow lying down with a barbell or dumbells.

The one i do is lying on a bench, with 2 low pulleys, imitating the bench press motion. I'll try the sitting one as well

My gym only has the seated. As said, you'll be able to lift more but it's not as good as using a proper bar or bells where you need to use more muscles to stabilise and balance the weights as you lift.

When I first started going to the gym I was using predominantly pin weight machines, I built up my strength on that and was kind of disappointed at having to decrease the weights I lifted when moving to free weights.
