how do i keep my 98 dual cab hilux high but with flex on the front end.

i have wound up the torsion bars but now the front end feels too stiff for 4 wheel driving, i wanna keep my height but get more flex on the front end so its not so stiff when im going over rocks and ruts.

i was thinkin of winding my torsion bars down and puttin a 2 inch body lift on it, but i didnt go 4 wheel driving before i wound the torsion bars up sp i dont know what it was like 4x4 before.

is there any other way to do it? keeping in mind im a 1st year apprentice and dont earn much.

having an IFS hilux myself, there is nothing you can do.

I have a 2"body lift an wound the torsion bars up to 12mm from bumps.

It will flex shit house either way you go until you do a solid axle swap. Trust me, get used to pickin better lines an lifting a lot of wheels.

Ball joint spacers,

BJ Spacers will drop your ball joint 1inch, giving you 1inch of down travel.
Or in my case i wound my torsion bars up 50mm then installed BJ spacers, now i have 75mm of lift in the front but with shit all down travel, but i have a front lokka so it doesn't bother me having no travel in the front.

BJ Spacers cost me $170 bucks, and weren't fun to install.. But worth it..

Solid Axel Swap or SAS is the only way your going to get flex out of and IFS front end.
Jay-Cee
yea i dont have like 2500 $$ tho lol, im just gonna put a locker in the front end, thus replacing flex with traction, so when one front wheel comes off the ground the other can get traction

Lokka, very good decision, you won't regret it..

3.5" suspension lift and I've got a set 33" MTZs going on this week
handles heaps better, you no longer need a spinal adjustment after sitting in the back seat
my CV angles are still ok, I took it to ormeau on saturday and I followed a patrol with 35" rubber over a fairly hairy track - I'm using the shitty tyres it came with from the showroom floor

i've also since put a spacer in between the diff mount and the chassis to bring the CV angles down ever more, but I'm thinking of taking it out because it just takes away an inch of my ground clearance under the front diff and the CVs dont really look that bad without it in anyway

my cvs after lifting it nearly 4 inches (before putting diff spacer in)

I have a skyjacker kit in mine very high, rides good and cvs are pretty much level biggrin.gif
