k guys. my tacho stopped working thru a track day.
it will work when warming up but after a while it fails and drops down to 0.
if i hit a bump it will jump up...then back to zero. (i think this is more the fact that the needle jumps, not a loose connection)

My Power fc hand controller tacho works fine......it leads me to believe its a wiring issue behind the cluster.. However it is all fine!!??

i have also replaced the whole dash cluster and this EXACT problem still persists. i have also checked all my fuses.....and they are fine

ANY HELP OUT THERE GUYS.??

i have used contact cleaner to clean the ecu pins, and the ignition module in the engine bay, the connection pins for the tacho in the dash and still hasnt fixed the issue.

its getting VERY frustrating !!!

Check you have a tacho signal at the back of the dash cluster, if you do there's a chance your tacho is dead. Just grab a new dash cluster if this is the case.

ah k....i will look into the wire tomoro.

and as per my OP....this is the 2nd dash cluster i have used and the last one had the EXACT same problem

would the wire be faulty'??

afterall the pfc would be recieving the same signal from that wire ? dunno.gif and the handcontroller shows the correct rpm unsure.gif

think i have found the issue.

i actually took out the individual tacho unit...hooked up a solid earth and power source, but the signal wire was the weak link.

looks like i will have to hardwire it to the engine wire.

would be so much simpler if it was a sr20de tongue.gif hook right up to the ign coil.

so =,....does anyone know what colour the rev wire is in the engine? keeping in mind, its a s2 engine with INTERNAL ignitors. i have a wiring diagram but it doesnt say what COLOUR wire it is.

cheers
