KYB are great. beilsten even better.

not sure about offroading much. steer clear of the obvious junk. munro, pedders are average, prob fine for oem replacement i guess. gabriel are poo.

im running tough dogs shockies they are fully adjustable im happy with them , i got the 45 mm big bore so they actually bigger round in diametter so stronger i suppose , adjustable as in it has a knob on the bottom with rating 1 - 10 with 1 ride like a roller coaster when u go off road to 10 which is stiff as when u on the road less body roll
blownhilux
yeah sweet the tough dog 45mm adjustable is what i was looking at actually. do you know if they make an adjustable for the front aswell? theyre going on a 04 ifs hilux with torsoin bar front

Tough dog shocks dont have a very good rep to be honest, they just have a massive marketing budget i wouldn't touch em, theres been a few threads on 4wdaction about them and more people are unhappy with their TD than happy. probs be better off with EFS/OME/ranchos.
Phwoar
the shorty patrol i used to have, had rancho 9000s adjustable, old but worked well
blownhilux
what kinds of issues were they finding with tough dog shocks? thanks for the input fellas
Cranky
If only going 2" then Bilstiens all the way!

Im running Boss shocks in mine and they seem like a good thing so far......

heres one thread on the TD's.....

thread is 5 years old and it still gets dragged outta the archives......

ive got EFS 2 inch lift in my landcruiser, cant fault it
tuff33
i cant fault my tough dog i like them n yes they are all four adjustable
HSV
EFS or the new Rancho 9000 series are your best bet.

I have never had a complaint about EFS gear and I have run them in a number of my trucks.
NOR011
EFS, does the job nicely...

What bubs said or fox shox or kings racing

not everyone has the coin to drop thousands of $ worth on each corner of the car for Fox, i wish i could.

Fox and kings both do emmulsion shocks,

Couldn't find the kings.

Can't find a price now but last time I looked they were about $300US/pair.

Im running Boss Adjustables in mine aswell, just throw away the bushes you get with them as theyre absolute rubbish. Just finished replacing my fronts today and theyre almost non existant.
blownhilux
are boss american made?

anyone had experience with the rancho's? they make an adjustable front and rear thatd suit my hilux, think theyre 9000 xl series or something
issues
TD, rancho and Boss all from same factory. TD and rancho are shit, I haven't used boss yet. We has some pre-production boss shocks as samples but never fitted them.

whats the rough cost for the FOA's bubs?
is it worth the extra money for the external res. type?
blownhilux
still not sure what shocks to run. im pretty keen on adjustable but some people say theres not alot of difference between hardest and softest settings and you cant feel much difference between them? anyone that has adjustable i would like to hear your opinions. also im looking at getting ranchos but also hear they arnt the best quality for the price? cheers
WoodStok
EFS or Bilstiens for a 2" lift.
Brett
bilsteins ftw, i run a 3" bilstein setup in my hilux and its made all the difference
I wouldn't touch tough dog with a 10 foot pole - heard nothing but bad things from people who actually take theirs off road

they're cheaply made asian crap, you definitely are paying for their massive advertising budget
