Hi, I am a noob to cameras and taking photos and I am wanting to get photos whilst im at the drifts on the weekends and I was wondering what lens i should be looking at getting and how much it might cost..

I have a Nikon D60 aiming for around $500 if possible.

What lenses do you have at the moment?

I use kit lenses, I find them perfectly fine if you know how to get the best out of them.

for panning shots you don't want a fast lens, you run a very small aperture so even results from kit lenses will look decent.

The idea is to have a slow shutter speed and pan along with the car to keep the wheels and background blurry and some car too for a little creativity.

The part you'll struggle with is length, getting a longer lens will obviously fix this however good long lenses are just an expensive. a Nikkor 70-200 is sub $3k, or you can go for something a bit more average like a Sigma tele (70-300, 18-125) it all depends on what you want to do rather than getting a 'drifting lens' as you'll use it for other stuff too.
