I didn't see a thread like this yet.

Is there anything that gets on your nerves when your in the gym??

I hate people who sit on a machine or are using a certain weight you need to use yet they're just sitting there having a 10 minute chat to their friends instead of working out and making people wait for it.

The people who don't wipe the sweat off the machines and leave it for you to wipe up, and the people who don't use deodorant and ALWAYS seem to sit next to you.

So as said what annoys you in the gym?
nosaj89
My thoughts exactly, also hate when people try to 'ego' lift when it's obvious the weight is too heavy.

Yeah I've taken notice to that recently..

Princesses that wear all matching Lorna Jane outfits with 3mm thick make-up that prance around and don't really do much, just screams "LOOK AT ME, I'M AN ATTENTION WHORE".

Girls with hot arses that wear tight leg-ins, then put a jumper tied around their waist to hide their arse. Just wear baggy clothes so you don't have to complain about guys perving on you ATTENTION WHORE.

Personal Trainers (using the term loosely) that don't look like they have ever done any exercise in their life. I read a book once too.

Personal Trainers who have no fucking idea on proper training techniques or dietatry advice, but think they do.

People who scream and shout while trying to lift weights that really aren't all that heavy, just STFU and focus quietly please.

People who wear lifting belts just to do seated bicep curls.

Guys on the gear that get really bad acne on their shoulders and feel the need to still wear singlets to try and show off. People are laughing at you cause you are advertising the fact that you are on the gear, more than likely taking more than you need, and obviously don't have the knowledge behind what you are putting into your body or how to use it properly and safely. Are you nipples itchy yet tiger? Wonder why your pecs are turning droopy?

Guys that cycle on and off the gear, but obviously never put on any quality size cause while they are off it, they shrink right back down again, then turn into a big puffy version of themself for a few weeks and think it actually looks great.

Guys that put down body building competitors saying how they could have done better etc etc, yet never have the balls to actually diet right down and do it themselves. I'm sorry Mr Bloated 100kg, you are going to lose more than 5kg when you diet down properly. See you at 84kg if you want to get truely cut. And no, just having your abs showing isn't cut. Striations through the gluts is where cut is at.

There's this personal trainer chick at my gym who thinks she knows what she's doing, I know more about training and diets 10 million times over more than her, then she goes oh no you gotta go lighter weight ect I just want to punch her in the face. She's so fucking annoying and you see her giving guys routines with like 8kg weights. She then had the nerve to say my routine was "wrong" and saying all this other bullshit even though my brother gave the routine to me and was at like your size cos he did it for many years whilst she said she's been "training" for like 3 yrs yet she doesnt have one ounce of muscle or even defined muscle at that.

I know what you mean bout the guys in the singlets with the acne, there's a few of em at my gym like that.

Also like to point out there's only like 5-7 guys who actually do squats at my gym, its ridiculous! Me and this other guy are the only ones who do ATG squats but fair enough for the other guys who do parallel squats cos they do have a very heavy weight on them.
Truckie
I agree with the above, so many people go to my gym just to sit on a machine or bench and socialize and look at themselves in the mirror.
GreekWarrior
I look at myself in the mirror and scream and shout while posing, b unit loves it.

I dont even bother asking pt's for advice etc. I just go up to the biggest guy at the gym and ask him. by doing this I've gotten to know a lot of current/ex powerlifters, strongmen, bodybuilders weightlifters which are on a totally different level in terms of size and strength to everyone else training at the gym it's not funny

Going and talking to the big guys at the gym is really good advice. You will get some good info and some bad, but overall, guys who have done the hard yards and have good quality size must know something about what they are doing. And generally they are prepared to talk and help out people asking. Some may not, but they are just rude fuckers. Generally we are all there for to achieve the same goals, so most people don't mind helping others out.
GreekWarrior
it's just on average these guys know their stuff because they've been at it for ages, they're usually 30+

omwtfbbq

I do upright rows in the squat rack, only ever had one complaint about it from one of the other regulars, but i said he could work in with me and that was the end of that. Got some good advice off him too.

I hate the PT's telling people they can target fat on their stomach on the treadmill.
Imp
The surge of elderly people in the free weight area.
Standing in front of the weight rack to curl the 5 lb db 5000 times gets old.
And using a bench to row with a 10lb weight

also unnecessary grunters...a little bit here or there, fine, but the guys who feel they need to roar like a fucking lion to do one dumbell curl pisses me off

I hate it when two people get together near where I'm working out and whisper to each other then laugh. Makes me feel like they are laughing at me.

And why I didn't think of this before but when some one farts and than trys to walk away, and the smell is there and it looks like I did it
Damo
I know all about the farts.. fuckin horrid.. but i'm to blame sometimes..i just stand there though, but i tend to do it while there are a few people around me, so each person is like "who the fuck did that" ahah
synesthesia
I hate it when I'm alone in the deserted weights area at my gym quietly going through a workout when all of a sudden a chubby personal trainer bursts in with a class of 10 people.

They proceed to (loudly) demonstrate an exercise (or get one of their clients to do it because they can't complete it sucessfully by themselves) on one bench or machine while the other 9 people crowd around and sit on every other machine or bench in the area taking up all the space without actually exercising.

I also hate when someone takes the dumbell weight I want to use away from the free weights area into the pin machine area then after lifting it a few times leaves it lying on the ground next to them for the next 20 minutes while they perform a round on the different machines. Then when I go and ask if I can use the dumbell they get all pissy and protective and say "No I'm just about to use it."

And lastly, I hate picking up a weight or bar that's really sticky because some dirty fucker couldn't be bothered to wipe it down after using it.
B Unit
Another one I hate is in the free weights area, you will be doing db chest press or db shoulder press, and some bastard walks into your db, while you are in the middle of the set. Can be quite dangerous as it could easily cause an injury to yourself.

Never seen that, but i've always been careful walking around people while they are using DB's.

I've seen a fight in a gym with some psycho lebo guys, they were throwing free weights at each other and swinging barbells. It was crazy as, cops got called lol

I kinda hate when people move their bench closer to yours say to do incline db press so its upright yet your doing skullcrushers and keep looking to see if your bars gonna hit em
FiL0_R32
People that grunt that dont really need to and people that drop weights from ridiculous heights....eg DB incline, honestly if you ca rep it out 8+ times you can lower them then drop them closer to the floor.....eccentric contraction is good for you. Oh and the old bitches that do 1 set on a machine then talk for 10 mins and then swap....takes them half a day to get their whole workout done! Thats why i like carseldine...go in the off peak peroids its just you and the weight.

I hate the ego @#$!s the most.

Going to Goodlife you get a fair few of them. Walk in with hair perfectly sculptured, designer shoes on which look like there made out of paper and some stupid outfit that gives you no movement at all. Then proceed to lift fuck all with less than 10 reps and less that three sets...yet still manage to take ages to do it because of mirror looking time + time spent walking to water bubbler trying to look good to the stupid bimbo walking on a treadmill.

oh and B unit i totally agree with the people walking into you when lifting free weights etc. Was doing chess press the other day with 35's which for me is quite heavy (only been going to gym for 2 months and only 5'9" and 74kg's) and some dickwad ran into my left arm as i was lifting up. luckily he came from behind me and knocked it foward, if it had been the other way around it would have been hello dislocated shoulder.
VTR
Started @ Hendra Healthworks last week after moving into the Clayfield area and thus far haven't had any dramas with anyone (and hopefully not caused any for anyone) oopsie.gif

Seems like a good gym to be at.

At BJ's a few years back we had 3 young guys all wearing caps backwards when they trained. So my mate Bill who is in his 50's and has been an over 50's Australian and southern hemisphere champ before, goes up to them and asks where do you buy these caps with the brim on the back? They all looked at each other trying to figure out if he was for real or not, then he proceeded to tell them how fucking stupid they look mamoru.gif Poor guys didn't know what to say.

Another one is, why do some guys wear jeans and a nice shirt and shoes to the gym. They dress like they have just come from a club, seen this many times before too. I can understand if they have just come from somewhere and have no change of clothes, but seen the same guys do it numerous times. I guess it's for the benefit of the ladies mamoru.gif *cough* wankers *cough*
Weekend Warrior
Unfortunately Jeans and Flat cap are a regular occurrence at Goodlife Cleveland, you gotta love it when they come in acting all hard, go straight to bench and only manage to do about 50kg's hahaha
B Unit
Another one, probably not so much in the gym, but outside the gym, and GreekWarrior has discussed this one before also, when you are out and guys ask you how much can you bench. And it's usually not cause they could do better, but they always have a mate who can bench some huge amount. Seriously who fucking cares, I"m very happy for your mate and hope he is completing all of his own personal training goals. Now go ask your chesty mate how much can he squat, full reps, arse to the floor, that will impress me.
GreekWarrior
I told my uni mate ages ago that I use to leg press around 400kg about 4-5 years ago, then about a month ago we were talking and he said he was having a discussion with another mate of his and he was saying he could leg press 300kg or something. My uni mate then told him I could do 400kg and he was like bullshit I dont believe you. I told my uni mate I dont really care and I dont really leg press anymore haha...

Thats like me, I used to incline leg press 350kg and my mate never believed me. anywho after I showed him I could actually do it he shut up. There was this one guy and ever since then because of it I hate him. He looked at me doing the 350kg and shook his head and laughed at me. I was ready to punch the fuckhead in the face. I remember couple years back in OT, there was a thread with a few of us in it and we were all saying how much we could bench and leg press..I said I was doing 470kg on the leg press, they all called bullshit so I posted up a video of me doing 440kg(was having an off day) and then everyone was like, that's not a full rep not going all the way down.. like wtf!! I was doing a correct rep, and they still couldn't handle someone doing that and they could only do half if they were lucky..

I think it was type r and some other wogs who called bs..I had the last laugh.. thumbsup.gif

Silver_whatcaramidrivingtoday is correct. Plus a brisk walk will burn more calories from fat and less from muscle than running. But if they are plodding along with the machine on 3km/hr, then yes, swift side kick to the back is required.

yeah thats what I meant, power walking is fine but if they are just dawdling and chatting while slowly walking for that amount of time it irritates me since I know for a fact there are people who genuinely want to use them for its purpose

I Get annoyed when people have to sit there towel drink bottles etc on a bench and do a exercise that does not require the bench at all.
Not that I don't like talking to people and having to ask them if they mind moving but having to wait for them to finish what there doing so I ask them to move the gear so I can get in and do what I need to do.

So pls sit your gear on the floor if you don't require the use of a bench.

After this afternoon's session I'll add;

People who do dumbell curls, raises and other funky weird exercises right infront of the dumbell rack.

People who swing weights around during some sort of weird 'exercise' and nearly take you out

People who do pull ups in the power cage.

People who skip rope right smack bang in the middle of a walking lane.

Being hit on by ugly chicks in the middle of a set of deadlifts.

I hate it when there a hot chicks around you and just leave..so bloody distracting!!!
