Ive given up hope on basically anything that has remotely the same playstyle as WoW, so pretty much any MMO. Any good idea's they might have Blizzard will just copy anyway, and the fanbase of WoW are too hardcore to bother migrating to anything else.

There's only really one MMO that comes to mind which might do ok is Star Wars: The Old Republic. Full voice acting for every bit of text/quest in the game, quests which change depending on whether you choose the good/evil approach, NPC party members who will follow you around and might leave depending on how good/evil you become, and its made by Bioware! Who basically make any good RPG you can think of, and the this one is the successor to the Knights of the Old Republic games, which are sweet ass games!

Oh yeah, and you can be Bounty Hunters! Fuck yeah.

I've heard awesome things from a lot of people about this new Star Wars MMO.

As much as I love WoW, I'd still love something new to come along to try.

I dont know if its so much a case of the fanbase being too hardcore, as the WOW alternatives being buckets of crap?

People were abandoning WOW in droves just at the hint of WAR, but most came trickling back as each patch to WAR brought more and more disappointment.

I mean... whats been the alternatives so far? AoC? WAR? Guild Wars? LOTR? They've all been pretty poor quality games. While WOW may have been poor in its original launch too, all these other MMOs have WOWs current state to build on - they should be almost matching WOW on their launch, then using each patch to get BETTER. They all seem to launch a half-arsed product, then spend the patches trying to fix stupid little bugs instead of addressing class balance issues and adding more content. Meanwhile, for every new MMO that launches Blizzard releases an expansion pack that beats them to the punch in terms of extra features.

I'd love to see an MMO tackle WOW (mainly because every patch dumbs the game down further and further), but unless a company can actually bring out a game thats at least partly polished on its first launch (or makes up for the lack of polish with some seriously unique game play) its just a lot of crappy WOW clones throwing themselves off cliffs.

Seriously... Keep track of the new Star Wars MMO coming out... I'm so hoping for that game that blows WoW away. I still play WoW after playing many other MMO's... I just kept coming back to WoW because it is honestly, the best MMO out there to date.

I so hope Star Wars blows it out of the park, or is atleast on par.

SWG was awesome until Sony took over.

I think it's going to be a big flop.

what makes u say that?

from what i can tell so far, its stable, low lag, its polished, its different from wow, its hard, it looks awesome, the crafting system is complex and varied, there is tons to do, im not seeing a major downside here. Theres a few small problems at the moment, but certaintly nothing game breaking. I think it will do quite well

Allthough im only lvl20 odd so far, the end game pve/pvp experiance will really determine the games fate
004dam
so far it is fun as, im yet to do any pve par questing so will have to wait untill i get into it more

I've been playing Aion since release/cancelled my wow sub.

Wow is rediculously boring if you've been playing from day blot. Nothing new, same crap just washed and polished and redished up to new noobs who think it's great.

Aion actually seems a more indepth MMO then wow. Probably not as much character diversity at the moment that wow offers, but in terms of gameplay its easily better then wow.

Wow is losing all the hardcore players due to the fact they aren't bringing anything new to the table ... i mean Ony again ... Naxx .... people don't want to run the same old boss's 100 times.

Making it take less then 2-3 days to get to 80 and then even less time to get geared is just stupid.

Anyways, Aion offers a fair stable server, few lagouts around server update time but generally smooth gameplay with very impressive graphics. Chain abilities and flying combat is pretty sweet also.

PVP can be a tad laggy for melee in a big numbers fight, but 1 v 1 pretty sweet (same as wow - with no lower ping).

Aion requires time to invest rather then just sit back and look at purples.

WTS 2 x 80 toons in full heroic/non heroic ToTG gear + pst.

WoW was like that once, back in Vanilla.

Hopefully Aion doesn't take the same route.

Vanilla was the only decent part about wow. Where you actually had to have some decent gamers to down boss's.

Wow now = 2 days played time and game finished zzz.

Really enjoying Aion when i get a chance to play. 60hours to lvl one crafting skill is a bit zzz though. Thank goodness for dvd's lol.

Vanilla wasnt about skill, it was about time.
RicedOut

Heard bad things about Aion. Like, lack of content.

Hearing FFXIV might be ok, but. Play style, and battle/level up is a bit gay. And, after the successful FFXI, I'm sure FFXIV will be pretty good from day dot. Be even better that they wont release to the very out dated PS2.

In respect to FFXIV i can't comment, i've never played nor really payed much attention to the game.

However, in terms of aion, it lacks content on a PvE scale, not a PvP. Yes, leveling is a much more painful process, but that's what makes this game rewarding for your time spent. You invest the time = you get the results.

Only bad comment for Aion at present is very similar to what happened in Warhammer. The servers can't handle large scale 60 v 60 player combat. After Aion followed (if you've read reports) and tried to solve the same issues which lead to a large player base leaving warhammer, they still can't keep the battle's under control.

Nor can they work out how to keep a closer eye on capped populations. Currently Nerzham (aussie server, fuk the spelling), is currently so bias towards Asmo's that the fort control % is like 99/1 due to the fact that Asmo's actually handed over the forts to Elyo's just so Asmo's can take it back for the rewards.

Anyways, game still enjoyable for the 2-3 hours i seem to invest. Be interested to hear what others have thought about the game.

If anyones interested,

Im willing to sell a Level: 30 assassin on nezekan server asmodians
( you will be able 2 change servers soon )

I am to busy for this game now >.<
