Hi all. New on this forum and spotted this section.
Thought I'd share a picture of my unfortunate accident after only 8 monthsof ownership. Turning off the freeway off ramp, i turned onto Toorak rd at seriously about 20-25km/h, the car aquaplaned and slid doing almost a full 180 over the gutter and head on into a traffic signal box.
I walked away in shock with not one injury and the airbags didn't go off.But it was a strong enough impact to sustain this damage and render the vehicle a write off. I miss my car

Unseen chassis damage, plus it's a jzx100, sorry to hear man, have 2 mates with 100's & they would die if this happened to them

This is written off? no fucking way... if you were in Thailand you can send it to a body shop and it will be fixed within 2 weeks

Its been written off cos your insurance company is a pack of fools.

I cant see any ripples in the roof or along the side. Tho with out looking underneath its hard to tell.

how much was the insurance pay out?

and if you where only going about 25km/h there its pretty unlikely that it would have caused any chassis damage, doesnt look like it either, reflections on panels etc look straight as.

probably a 'financial' write off. As in, its repairable but the insurance company decided to just pay you the money and flog the car as a 'repairable writeoff' ?

You never know what structural damage occured behind the front bar and to the firewall.. Shame though.. Tidy JZX Mate..

only a write off because the bodyworks would be too fat and lazy to get off there arse and fix it which is a real shame coz it looks a nice car

you got 2 be kiding me that is not a ride off iv hit a 110 sign and riped it clean out of the ground and my car woz only a repairble ride off and it all fix now i chase it up or try and find the car it have 2 been in a reckers some where!!!!

my mate with a 100 bought this car and used the manual box and engine from it to replace the auto and tired engine in his chaser. the chassis rails were all bent, he had a mate who is a bodyworks owner look at it, not worth repairing. On a better note the sweet wheels are now on a 20b twin turbo cosmo looks tuff
