I just figured i'd make a thread where I will post updates and pics of my little trip over to Japan..





I have bought a modified S13 silvia to play with over there, and will be attending the Drift Matsuri summer drift festival at one of the most renowned, and best drift heavens - Ebisu .. 8 crazy tracks all jammed into one mountain complex.

I will be leaving Melbourne tonight, 29th July, and heading over to Tokyo, where itll be basic sight seeing, then on the train to Osaka where I have friends who run a workshop there. My little white S13 is sitting there currently getting a bunch of modifications to make it an even better, more reliable drift car.

Unfortunately it was not financially viable to get the car legal to drive on the roads while i am there, so its gonna be public transport and hire cars.

Will be hoping to sus out some Touge and Highway racing while im there which im hoping my contacts can hook me up with. If theres anyone on this forum over there who might be able to help, feel free to reply on this thread or PM

Im not so much of a diary keeper, but I take a lot of pics, so hopefully i will populate this thread with images of the sights, action and whatever else catches my eye.

Basic run down of mods is:


HKS GT Turbo, fmic, split dump with screamer, hks fcon, hks coilovers, nismo lsd, oil cooler kit, twinplate clutch.

I better get back to packing and stuff, and hopefully I will be able to sort net and so forth not long after I get there.


I hope I capture some decent pics, and gather some valuable info for other people who may be considering going over themselves. I will be having some meetings over there with the workshop, and we may be able to hook up other people with contacts and such to arrange a similar trip for other people in future, so this is a bit of a test/experiment, a bit of "work" and hopefully a lot of fun

If you wanna go to the touge try goin upto Gunma and meet up with Luke Huxham or AndyLaurel from SD.

They took us to a couple of sick touges.

Ive got my big Digi SLR with lenses and stuff but im already over carrying it around.. not sure how ill feel to take it into the city later so the pics might just be with the crappy olympus waterproof one.

Cars are pretty cool, see lots of stuff we dont get there. Lots and lots of Lexus, saw a rally car and a lotus just maxing outside the hotel today as well..

Yeah, you see some pretty amazing cars in Japan. I have been there a few times, and it amazes me everytime I see a NSX/2/3/4 on the street.

It sure is the modified car mecca of the world. You will have plently of fun.

Another big night in the city..

Still not seeing much in the way of JDM cars, more euro than Local cars.

Staying in Tokyo for an extra night, then off to osaka Tomorrow, where ive been told i will see a lot more JDM action.

Met up with som mates for his bday at TGI fridays in tokyo, had all you can eat/drink.




Shopping at 530am, in another all night convenience store, where school girl uniforms seem to be in such high demand that you might need to rush out and grab one at all hours:

Was out in tokyo til daylight, theres still people sifting between all the clubs atr this hour, and bunches of people just chilling on the streets. Seemed there was a few peurto rican trouble makers in gangs, wearing some seriously ridiculous outfits like singlets that hung almost to their calves.

My name is joel, i am also going to japan to see d1 in aug i leave on the 24th to tokyo for three days then heading up to ebisu.
I was just reading ur thread sounds like your are doing exactly what i want to do over there haha quite funny too because i also do car graphics

Hit me a pm if you can i would love to pick ur brain for some info before i go over, such as i cant seem to find a place to stay near ebisu any ideas

so tired right now so just going to write very brief info and let the pics dot he talking.

have a couple of hundred pics but itll have to wait..


went and visited the 'Weld' workshop, have a chat to the owners/workers, gav them some of our stickers, they gave us some of theirs which was cool then they let us look over their cars, including one that has been converted to disabled accessible due to the driver losing his legs in an accident. awesome shop! wish more Aus tuners put that much care and attention into their rides.

also did a bit of sight seeing, but since its a car forum, ill keep that to a minimum. I will put a link up to a gallery when i have come back, where i will host the rest of the images. I have had about 15 hrs sleep in a week, so meh if theres images that wound up in here that arent supposed to be here (eg personal outing ones etc, i just typed the file names and hit submit).

also bought a couple of 'dildo' gearknobs if anyone over here wants one lol. a big one and a little one, clear with bubbles.. People seem to go crazy for them, and i saw them while buying race gloves at SuperAuto Bacs (massssive autobarn style shop that sells anything from $10,000 rims, to coilovers.

Haahha, I've never met the guy Personally, I was at Ebisu once while he was, didn't talk to him.. But for some reason everyone who has thinks hes a dickhead hahha.. I have a feeling he has nothing to do with all the aussies in Japan.. I think that Japan is awesome has alot to do with so many Aussies in Japan..
