Hello all a few of you might know me from other sites but i figure i will my own thread just because i can!

Anywho I bought the car just over a year ago with heaps of mods in mind. Untill i got done for street drifting i decided to lay low for a while.6 months i decided to start a boilermakinf apprenticeship(will do cash jobs) but now i am on 1st year wages So all upgrades are coming very slow now.I do all the work on it my self i dont wana pay some else to do it when i can learn my self!oh i am kiwi so you have somthing against me

The car is a 93 S13

The Down grades i have a the moment are
drift damage, Worn bushes and undersized brake rotors!


The Performance upgrades i have are:
3.5inch exhust(yes its too big) T28,Hypird FMIC,POD front strut brace. Cusco front coil overs with camber tops and tein rear coilovers. 56MM radaitor I think thats all...

The Rice bits i have are:
Side bars, rear pods front bar(with huge damage) 2 full sets of JDM 16inch wheels Square front head lights and clear tail lights.

The Next Upgrades will be:
Shimmed R200 LSD, Upgraded bushs, Brake rotors and Nistunechip and tune.

I am hoping to head out to acher feild with in 2months

I replaced my gaskets on my cat and bolt them up tight. the a few of the old nuts had came lose and fell off. It now revs and feels alot better.

Sounds like its coming along - might have to buy a fibreglass repair kit and start learning by the sounds of it haha...

I have allready repaired my front bar once. Last time i put it back to gether with zip ties! I take it you saw my car lol.

best thing about zip ties is when you hit something they just break and doesnt fuck your front fenders!

I run 205/50 R16s allround with the front tyres PSI at 32-36 and the rear at 45psi.

205/50 16s? theyre not too big? i wouldve thought the tyre profile is too high for an S13?

i wouldnt know i am only a newbie but IMO having high tyre pressure in the back takes away tyre wall movement resulting in less grip


Not sure. I took all the BOV shit of a long time ago! That was also leaking it seems it maybe something the stock tune. When you but your foot down it moves then it jerks then your going. its quite hard to explain

hmm really just need to have someone check over the engine and listen for leaks as you gun it to bring it on boost, and put soapy water or glue where there might be a leak to see if it bubbles etc. Not sure if thats your problem - nearly sounds like coilpacks - does it missfire or anything?

yeah it miss fires some times. it most worst them i am WOT changing through the gears. its real laggy like it doesnt wana go. i am not on full boost untill about 4,000rpm.
P.S When i flat shift its fine.

I decided to harden up and get on the track to night. It was so fucking awesome. lol but i hit the wall (atfer the first hirpin)2 times in the first 3 laps. The back the 1st time then the front the 2nd time lol. no real damage none.

but fuck yeah

Good on ya man! I think I saw your car at the end of the night. I was packing up and ready to go , was raining and wanted to go home.

But fuck you should have been there for the full track. God, I had so much fun! Alot (and I mean alot) more funner then the normal tracks, rev, normal... WHATEVER! It beats the lot!

Lol but i am am still a newbie haha. But to different cars asked if i wanted to go tandem! \


I think i need to learn how to use the hand brake more and learn the first hirpin with out hitting the wall. ops.

I did my fair share of damae to the front right. but meh nothing to worry about.


P.S i fitted 10mm bonnet spacers i made to day.

HAHA yeah i tend to spin at that first corner a bit haha.... we'll get there buddy. I'll tandem with you.

lol yeah i stopped trying the 1st corner and was drifting out of it. but yeah it was the best $50 i spent in a while

I picked up a chinese bucket seat and 4 more 15inch rims and 6 tyres last night. i got it all to fit in the S13:D

It was my first time on the track. People said i did quite well with loads of angle and decent speed. must be the kiwi in me

What does angle and speed have to do with being a Kiwi?

a little near work i used to "drift" my FWD maxima on the grass and stuff back in the day. fuck i miss those days.

But last week was my 1st time at a real session. I am thinking of entering to morrow night i cant help it

Nice have u ever been and watched there before? if not ask nick or some for some pointers. I will give you one now dont try drift the first corner on your 1st lap i learnt this the hard way. The 1st lap i went into the wall backwards and the 2nd or 3 lap i went into it forwards. then i decided to give up before i do more damage.

yeah iv been there abit lately just trying to sus it out lol yeah my first lap im just gonna drive around and the second lap im just gonna see how slipery it is and just slowly do it i think thats how i'll do it but it would probaly be different on thenight .

lol yeah my mate ran into that wall in his vl lol he really does need a locker

I started reading your thread, and then couldn't be bothered reading every post. I got to the bit about tyres and pressures. 205/60 is too big really. what size are your rims? if you have 16x8 (i think that's what I read) you should run a 205/45 or 205/50. Nothing bigger. And don't run anything wider than a 205 on an 8.
Also, tyre pressures. keep them fairly high. I keep my steer tyres (215/45/17) at 40psi. and the daily's tyres (205/50/16) at 36. But that's for daily driving.
Good to see that you upgraded your radiator early on, reliability is the key to enjoying drifitng. Diff is probably the single most important thing in a drift car though, you can't drift with a single spinner. So get that sorted ASAp.

Did you see me this week? I tryed with 205/60/15(brand new tyres) with 45psi i had a hard time not spinning out. I found i had heaps more grip with near bald 205/50/16s with 45psi.-thats for the back.

I but my front tyres down from 36 to 32 this week and found there was alot more under steer.

I also but the rear dampering onto rock hard so i am going to change it back to a softer setting,

I also make some bonnet spacers up for this week

I am saving for a nistune so my car isnt a pig to drive.

My diff locks both wheels 90% of the time i am planning to get it shimmed for now then wait untill i get a little richer

Have a blast drifting, i'll have to come out and watch one day, i'll bring some extra zip ties, as half of my turbo conversion is held on with them
