Yeah, no doubt most people with 'energy saver' globes (fluorescent type) globes might notice that when you have them all turned off (as in, you alone in the dark.....) the lights will flash every so often. For me, in my ludmilla house, its every 8.5 secs.....

In brinkin, it was every 11 seconds.

What causes this?

I tried googling, binging even, but all I got was Hz refresh rates, which are a whole different kettle of jewies.

At one point, I suspected it was the airport radar sending out its signal on a rotational basis causing the lights to flash. I remember as a kkid growing up a few km's away from some big ass powe lines, you could make an 18 or 36w tube glow if you stood under them. Radiation it was.

Personally, i think this is something to do with the Power providers inability to provide good clean commercial power. Or a poltergiest......ohhhh, the damn TV's trying to suck me in again, be right back.........

I also dont agree with the normal people about light globes...let me explain:
A light globe suxs in darkness (No not you Darkenss smile.gif )
Think about it....you turn a light in and around it it is light becausing it is suxing in the darkness.
If the globe is a high wattage one (like at the sporting grounds), it suxs in darness from a wider range.
And when a globe is new it is clear (empty)
But when the globe "blows", it is black because it is FULL OF DARKNESS.......now where are my tablets :drinks: beer.gif
sp33d
so........does this mean i dont need to call ray or egon, or grab a proton pack?

wouldn't dirty power only effect it when it is on? if the switch is off, the circuit is open so no power should be getting through. it has to be getting power from somewhere else, like a poltergeist as you suggested.
sp33d
My only concern is that, with the switch in the OFF position, power IS cut to the globe. So something else, elctricity or radiation, or EM activity from power lines/sources/EM emitting devices etc...... within a specified range, are causing it.

Ot maybe the darkness is fighting back, and trying to release its brethren from the evil neo forces of the fluoroescent horde.

Dont mix pills and drinks. It TOO awesome to do on your ownsome smile.gif

Well its one OCD suffering poltergeist. 8.2 seconds on the dot. Maybe its the ghosts of past ATO revenue officers who died sifting through my bullshit smile.gif

Operating frequencies of electronic ballasts are selected to avoid interference with infrared remote controls. However, poor quality (or failing) electronic ballasts operating from AC mains may have insufficient Reservoir Capacitance and/or have poor Constant current regulator, thereby producing considerable 100/120 Hz modulation as well as the high-frequency switching modulation

trippy shit.....

take the bulbs to a church and if they dont spontaneously burst into flames, then theyre safe... if they do, then keep them and sacrifice people to the demon bulb.

Unplugged the wireless router.....still flashes

turned off power at te mains, problems go away...no flashing.....................doesnt finalise the issue though. What is it thats causing the signal? An EM pulse from the household wiring......or what? And in two houselholds in different suburbs of differing structure??

Its like the first 10% of the fluoro bulb illuminates......very strange.

I heard the C-bus power system controllers found in modern new homes have similar issues with fluoro tubes: i.e. houses with all those funky controllers for lighting aircon and fans in multiple control panels mounted on the walls, clipsal are but one provider. Apparently its about 30v+ve in your walls!!
Zmit
ok.... when you turned off power at the mains, was it the master or just the one circuit for the fluoros?
Plugg3r
This is caused by them being fluro... They're slowly giving you skin cancer.. Kthx..
FC3S7
i get the same thing with the energy savings in my room.
i have two on either side of the wall and they both flash.
but both dont flash at teh same time and i think they are flashing
at different speeds too....
Plugg3r
Do you have Raves at your place? If not probably should start...
