Just curious on what people out there consider is a medium to high wage be that white collar or blue collar working class

and what sort of hours would you put in to get it.

I'd be happy with 60g's a year.

If I found the work to be rewarding, challenging (note: challenging, not being asked to do the impossible), and was working with a good group of people, I'd be prepared to do 50-55 hours a week. For those sort of hours, I'd want about $60k minimum, and the less I enjoy the job or the work environment, the more money I'd want accordingly.

I took a substantial paycut to get into my current job because the conditions have been so much better than those I previously worked under, especially including job satisfaction. I'm a strong believer in the "Work to live, not live to work" policy, but that's not to say that work can't be enjoyed and serious hours can be put into a job.

Depends on what you have to support, ie houses, cars, kids.

A good wage i guess is $100k + car, phone, super, computer and commish.

Makes for some good pocket monies sometimes.

I used to think that 1k/week would be enough, but with all the inflation these days you still couldnt live without counting penny's every week.

It's funny how much a person's age and current life situation can change their opinion of the total package and the balance of what's most important. Where I work the pay is mediocre, but we have an AWESOME super package. But given I won't be retiring for a minimum of twenty years, and wouldn't be able to access my super for forty years anyway, it is of no real interest to me. Plus with the way the markets have been in the last couple of years, that money would have been better coming to me as pay, as it would have gone straight off my home loan.

I find that people on a salary of 100k plus are usually getting alot more entitlements on top of that, at least in non govt employment down south.

I mean alot fo motorists travel along toll roads. Most on shitty wages are going backroads to avoid tolls, where possible, I mean at up to $20 a day tolld, plus another $20 for parking, man, theres your first 10k a year down the shitter. Not a great start for an IT sales dude on 60k a year.

But persons on these higher wages, are getting companied paid cars, paid tolls, and paid $per km where they are using they're own vehicle. On top of that phone and other IT supplies are covered, and a parking space is often included.

Its funny, but the more you earn, the less things you have to pay for.
