Hey guys, well i bought my ute mid last year and have been pondering a full stereo setup for a while now. Being a single cab hilux i'm a bit tight on room for a sub since the passenger seat is fixed, and am not keen on the new slimline subs. So i finally got around to making a custom fibreglass box that sits behind the seats. The box is 90% complete just needs abit of sanding and to be trimmed. I also purchased 2 new amps, a Jaycar Precision Response 1000 WRMS mono for the sub and a 4x100WRMS for the splits. i upgraded my splits and decided to go for a set of MB Quart Reference 6.5" splits (the genuine german ones not the crappy chinese made), i snagged one of the remaining sets before they changed to German Maestro. I had to settle on a 12" alpine type S as not many full sized subs would fit due to limited space. Should sound pretty good when the sub is in, the splits by themselves sound amazing. cheers

looks awesome im in the process of making a box for my 03 single cab hilux ute too.
The box i have built is to suit a 10" Kicker l7. In a ported box.

Lookin good. My workmate's doors rattle something fierce with the stock system in it. How did you go about fixing this ??? Could you please take some pics of how to get the head unit out as I haven't taken mine out yet and can't see too many mounting screws. Looks very tidy though.

What rims are on it?

i'll try and find some photos of the head unit, its pretty easy to take out, if u start yanking on some shit you'll realise that it is not one piece. The rims on it are 17" holden captiva rims. Just dropped the box off this arvo at streamline trim hopefully will be ready on friday cheers

Nice work on the subs, did you do them yourself???? Is it a 05-09 hilux? because my mate has a 08 dual cab hilux and wants to put some subs in. As for the tweeter pods, they're not that hard to make up, just follow the above pics although imo prob not the best project to start if you haven't worked with fibreglass before. Throw us a pm if you want to talk about it further cheers. Whats the sound like from the kickers?

Cheers mate. Yeah I installed all my gear myself; 2 amps, 4 speakers, 2 subs, H/U. It's the current model, just like yours. 2005 Dual Cab SR5.

Yeah I was going to have a go but I've never worked with fibreglass before so not too sure how it would turn out.

The sound from the Kickers is fairly good considering they're not in a proper box but inside the storage holders. Also depends on what type or music I play.
